Exactly. Other than the obligatory jokes about threesomes and menage trois, this, to me, is the best solution and here's why: As you mentioned in your opening post, if you go after girl A, then you can blow it with girl B and that is the girl you really like any way. Go after who you want. Life is too short wasting time with girl A. Settling is never the answer.

Girl B. If she is the one you really like then there is no sense going for the one your meh about. According to the background info, A seems like a better backup candidate than B anyway. Of course how well you are friends and how close you are to each individually changes things too. Worse case move on to the next pair of friends.
