I have to strongly disagree here. Greater physical specimen, yes. But athletic ability belongs to Hakeem and to me it's not even close. There is a reason we have never seen, nor probably will ever see in our lifetime, a center like him. You can put a list of some of the greatest position players and probably find somebody pretty similar. Even the great Jordan has a similar player in Kobe. I can't think of one center that had/has Hakeem's ability.

I am/was a huge Jordan fan and I believe this person got it correct by putting Lebron ahead of Jordan...and I don't think it is close. I believe that Lebron is by far the greatest athlete of my lifetime(I never saw wilt play).

they need to put a little guy on that list. Nate Robinson/Spudd/Bouges/Earl Watson.

Those guys are pound for pound absolute freaks.

If you are going to put Gerald Wallace on there, where is Josh Smith? Outside of LeBron, he's probably the best athlete in the league right now.

You probably haven't watched Ralph Sampson before he was injured. Ralph is the most athletic guy taller than 7 feet that I have seen.

I can agree that Hakeem is a better athlete than Robinson, but not "not even close" like you said. It's close and it's debatable. Hakeem is obviously a better player. Robinson is a lesser version of Ralph in terms of athletic abilities. And I don't know why Kevin Garnett is not even on the HM list. He is similar to Sampson and Robinson.

    But then, what is athleticism?

I suppose "athletic ability" is pretty subjective. If we're talking decathlon-type athleticism, David Robinson beats Hakeem. As a center, his running and leaping ability was pretty much unmatched. Hakeem gets an edge in quickness/agility.

Olajuwon should have made the list. With Clyde "the glide" Drexler.

I have watched Sampson and I do agree he is the most athletic 7+ footer ever. But not even he had Hakeem's quickness and footwork.

And I may have been stretching it a bit by the "not even close" comment but I think Hakeem is hands down the better athlete.

I dunno, Hakeem had some serious hops in his younger days. I'm sure everybody has seen this video but I can never get tired of it.
