From earlier this morning (making his weekly visit). A bit late but better late then never, I guess. Lock/merge if necessary, thanks. http://www.sportsradio610.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=4315368
Jeez, that guy ragging on DM for Shane and Chuck sure sounded stupid. Sounded worse in person than I'm sure he does on this board. Ignorant teenagers.
LOL. "Hey umm.. Darel.. Uh Battier... Just real talk.. He sucks.. Chuck Hayes.. Blah blah, they need to go. OH! And I'm a true Rockets fan!"
Here's a paraphrase of the interview: H: must be exhausted after last night. that was shocking seeing it go to overtiem the way it did. at least team took care of business. DM: players got the win, that's about all you can say. H: its a tremendous thing to win in 3OT. the bad news is you had to go to 3OT to beat a bad team. but every game is really important, so you have to take advantage of all opportunities, and you did. DM: We have to win all these home games. coming down to us, UTA, POR, or OKC not making playoffs. we are all targetting somewhere in the 45-50 win range. each game will matter, we have to win the games we're supposed to win. we've done that this year. H: how do you feel about the makeup of the team right now in a general sense? DM: We are short an offensive player. Not unexpected with Yao and McGrady gone. That's showing across the roster, with guys having to do things they are not used to doing. We are easier to guard. We can try to address that with trade or guys continue to advance, but we have to work through it. H: making a deal based on 5-5 recent record. DM: trying to make a deal with T-Mac. if we can make move to build a contending team, we'll certainly do that. can't look at any 10 game stretch. lots of mistakes get made when you do that. have to look at the bigger picture. before, it looked like we could get through without needing more offense. but right now, it looks like we're asking too much and need to look for opportunities to help team. H: thoughts on CHA loss DM: no shame in losing to CHA. 14-4 at home. very good defensive team. first half was a mirage. when we are scoring like that, 60 in first half, we should be up 15 points. we need to give ourselves a buffer when scoring like that. only aaron and luis had it going offensively. luckily shane and chuck stood out in second half in holding them down to keep us in it. H: have expectations changed with how you can get there (with Ariza being what he is)? DM: hoped that 45 wins will get us in the playoffs. we knew that we'd struggle offensively, but thought we'd be better defensively. have to tighten up the defense and be crisper. outside of chuck and shaen and trevor, we don't have a lot of veteran, good defenders. we have some young guys that work at it, but in this league officials won't give young guys the same calls. we've won a lot of close games, with aaron and carl. H: about luis scola. shoots a high percentage, but expecting more scoring from him? DM: some of that is carl's emergence. luis would be scoring more if carl hadn't emerged into one of the top players in the league offensively. unfortunately them both on the floor because they both struggle guarding the 5 on many nights. we have 3 players that you could consider for all-stars, but the league won't recognize any of them because you need multiple years of high play. side note: 5 teams in division with .500+ record, only 4 in entire ECF. H: where do you rank Brooks amongst PGs. DM: Aaron and Luis carried us offensively. hustle plays across the roster was impressive. Chuck and Shane were great defensively throughout the game. the defense on Al Jefferson by Chuck Hayes was amazing. I've knew Jefferson well from Boston, nobody does that to him. H: if ainge never makes the deal for Garnett, but he has Allen, Pierce, and keeps the guys from Minnesota, and they hae Rondo. What are they like? DM: they'd be good, but they don't win a championship. Garnett is so underrated, he transformed the entire team. he's probably the best defensive big of the last 10 years. with tim duncan being the other guy in the conversation. C: we have a lull in the third quarter with the lack of scoring. they lose it, and the other team has a go to guy to bring them back into the game. any remedy? DM: we're basically getting killed at the start of 3rd quarters. we're not playing well, not executing well. so far we haven't been able to do that. C: why hasn't adelman used joey dorsey? DM: we're happy with the 4 bigs we're using with CHuck, Carl, Luis, David. until there's an injury, those are the 4 we'll be using. C: what can we expect to get in return for tracy mcgrady. seems more like a salary issue. can we get something good? DM: its hard to tell, too early. preliminary conversations have been productive, but no team is offering what they will offer at the deadline. it will be at the deadline, and it will come down to how much the other teams move to know what will happen. hoping to accomodate tracy. we'll have to focus on what we get back fits into a contender over multiple years. hopefully it helps short term too, but mainly that it fits into an 8-man rotation that would help win a title. H: what's the dynamic with the Rockets and Tracy. DM: he was in town this week. our trainers are still checking in with him. i've had more contact with his representatives at this point. H: its the 4th time that adelman has won a game that went at least 3OT. highest in NBA history. DM: yeah, we own 3OT. Rockets are also 3-0 in 3OT in their franchise. C: shane battier he sucks. liability to the team. never made defensive 1st team. chuck hayes only reason he's on the team is becuase of the year everyone wasn't healthy. those guys need to go, coming from a true rockets fan. just my opinion. DM: we love to have every Rockets fan, but I just don't agree. if you can't see what Chuck and SHane did yesterday, then I'd have you watch more because both those guys were terrific on the defensive end. and defensive is what kept us in that game. C: chase has loads of potential. i don't think he knows how talented he is. he seems timid at times. what type of offseason program do you have to to accerlate his skills. DM: we're on an in-season program, not waiting to offseason. chase is a guy who can really give us a lfit as he advances defensively. he does guys that few players can do. extremely talented, way better than we thought. he's going to be one of those players that are better in the pros than in college. he's got loads of potential, he has to work to realize that potential.
Why on earth are our trainers looking at tmac?? His grovers now and his never playing for us why are we wasting resources
Its all a setup.. We dont trade T-Mac... He comes back and plays, we DO trade T-Mac he comes back next season signs for min.. with our newly stacked team
We're trying to trade him. It probably helps to know what his progress is and where he's at physically.
Thanks man. The last game shows why NBA a star league. In 4th quarter and OT, there's almost no ball movements but a lot isolated play by AB. It used to be Tmac's role. Coach RA is definitely a great coach but his system won't win WC. If Tmac is healthy, he is the one rockets need now. Basically rockets don't trust tmac is recovered.
Thanks for the recap durvasa. Battier not the answer anymore huh? I don't think anyone would underrate a legit superstar with tangibles.
I'm sure all of this was said while the caller was hugging his McGrady jersey and smearing lipstick on his face.
Hmmm, funny how most big deals get done at the deadline especially with a monster size contract like T-Macs. I would have never thought that. LOL
