I have a question, If somehow we got just Iguodala & Dalembert, could we trade Dalembert over the summer so we wouldn't have that extra money he gets with the trade kicker tied up to either resign Scola & Lowry or a free agent?

I was responding to "DD, you can't teach Scola, Landry, Hayes, to defend and rebound against Gasol/Odom/Bynums, when they play at (their) best. At the same level of intensity, they can't do it." I'm sorry, but it seems a bit nonsensical. The same players played well enough for us to take them to 7 games in the second round last year. The same players played well enough for us to lose by 1 at home and win by 10 in LA this season. In the 9 point loss in LA this month, I'd say it was more Ariza, Battier, Lowry, Andersen, and Budinger going a combined 9 for 34 that cost us the win, rather than the play of Scola, Landry, and Hayes. In my opinion, of course.

I'd rather have Thaddeus Young. Especially if Battier or Ariza are included in a trade for Bosh.

Yes. 7 games, and ok, we have competed against them very well this season. And I don't talk about Gasol's absence because we also have Yao's absence. But I honestly think that in that battle we are gonna be always the underdogs. And underdogs usually lose.

For sure we can win (and we will) some battles, but in the end we're gonna lose almost every war. Basketball is for tall people for some reason. That's what I think. You can never put yourself the label of "contender" under that circumstances.

as typical, your deluded with your own false beliefs.

Scola's ability to hit the mid-range jumper was one of the reasons we sought him out as it helped to space the floor for Yao. The Spurs didn't want to let him go. They mis-managed bringing him over, over-valued Rasho and were faced with losing him for nothing if they didn't trade him. Then when there backs were to the wall, other teams held them ransom and the best they got (last offer they wanted to take) was an offer that got them out of Butler's contract and gave them a crappy euro point guard. (sorry DD)

As per Oden v Durant, the Blazers made that pick based on what position they thought they needed as opposed to which player was more talented. A similar call to what Dumars had made with Carmelo v Outofotheleague. Both were wrong decisions. At the time, Dumars was heralded as being a great gm. I thought he was an idiot.

You are citing teams winning 50 games a season as justification for their errors. Haven't the Rockets done the same.

You silly boy, all I'm pointing out is that you are railing against the Rockets for poor choices and citing "model teams" that would never make these choices. Yet I can go up and down the league and draw direct comparisons.

The reality is, since DM has become GM, the rockets have been one of the top run organizations in the league. The combination of drafting, scouting, free agency and coaching have all been well above average. So much so, the Rockets have remained uber competive in years with significant chunks of payroll sitting on the bench or at home.

    end game.

Based on talent I do both of those deals every day. And you could make arguments as to why Philly and Wahsington would do those trades as well. However, the reality is that when the rest of the Rockets are included we would be so far over the luxury tax threshold that I just can not imagine Les even joining in a conversation about it.

Thought I would just post this here, since it doesn't really say anything new.

McGrady headed to Sixers for Iguodala, Dalembert?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/McGrady-headed-to-Sixers-for-Iguodala-Dalembert?urn=nba,213551

The Philadelphia 76ers snagged one veteran player earlier this season when it signed Allen Iverson(notes) to a deal. Now it appears the team is very interested in bringing another onboard: the Houston Rockets' Tracy McGrady(notes).

According to PhillyBurbs.com, the Sixers have been talking to the good folks in Houston to see how a deal could be structured to bring the NBA's most expensive player to the City of Brotherly Love. The Rockets have till Feb. 19 to ditch McGrady and his $23 million expiring contract. The rumor is that Philly could send Andre Iguodala(notes) and Samuel Dalembert(notes) to Houston for McGrady.

It seems the Sixers are tired of losing and are looking to just jettison players and salary so it can start anew this summer when a massive crop of talented free agents hit the market. And if it got rid of Dalembert and Iguodala, the team would be $14 million under the salary cap for next season as well.
The Rockets may also be considering deals with the Chicago Bulls for a package with Joakim Noah(notes) and the Washington Wizards for a package that includes Caron Butler(notes).

I think we should demand more from Philly(cough*Jrue Holiday*cough).. Specially since that trade only leaves us with one Point Guard...

and IF this Post > "Bayless for Andersen" is true, the rockets will be loaded.....

    Lowry/Holiday
    Iguodala/Bayless/Taylor
    Butler/ Budinger
    Bosh/Landry
    Dalembert/ Hayes/ *Yao Ming

Your basically saying Brooks talent level or future talent level is close to those guys?? Sorry to disappoint you man but that isn't even feasible.. Brooks at best is a top 8-12 just for PG alone... The players you just stated our top 5 in the whole league!
