I was watching NBA Coast to Coast and Chris Broussard was saying that the Rockets are intrested more in Bulter and that package because that would give us cap room this summer to resign Lowry & Scola, but if we did a McGrady for 3 people trade, wouldn't we have to include Taylor, Dorsey or Cook to have room on the roster
Battier can't get better with his offensive skill set,he can't learn anything significant from Pippen. Ariza's ball handling is also going to remain limited. Pippen could teach him how to pass, defend and possibly shoot better.
Rockets get Bosh, Butler Wizards get McGrady Raptors get Mike Miller, Brian Cook and Carl Landry Hate to part with Landry, but it's gotta be done to entice the Raps. Wouldn't want to, but we might have to part with even more talent to get Bosh. Maybe a draft pick too. So they get Landry and whatever other player we may throw in there, a one-year rental of Mike Miller and the satisfaction of knowing that they got something out of Bosh's departure. Wizards get out of under Butler's contract, get some replacement star talent for Arenas, and McGrady gets a license to shoot his little heart out to boot. They also get major cap relief for the offseason. Assuming chemistry holds, we becomes contenders in the West. Booyakasha!
I don't think the the Wizards deal best suits the Rockets. I believe the best way to utilize the Rockets assets (expiring contracts) to facilitate a deal would be as part of a three team trade: Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. Houston gets: Bosh (15.7) Salmons(6.4)2yrs or Jerome James (6.6) if Salmons not available Chicago gets: Tmac (22.4) Sonny Weems (.74) 2 yrs Toronto gets: Heinrich (9.5) 3yrs Tyrus Thomas (4.7) Brian Cook (3.5) This way Houston Gets Bosh and a SG (temporary?) with an expiring deal for next year. And Houston gets to keep its talent for another trade for a SG if they don't like Salmons. Chicago gets Tmac's expiring contract and unloads heinrich's deal. Toronto gets something in return for losing Bosh, Tyrus Thomas, and might be able to use Heinrich.
a couple scenario's I like Houston Trades: Tracy McGrady Trevor Ariza to/for Philadelphia: Samuel Dalembert Andre Iguoudala Houston mitigates the impact of the major salaries incoming by parting ways with Trevor who is made dispensable by the incoming AI. Houston also maintains some personnel flexibility as they stay young and have a major expiring in SD the following season. Philadelphia gets a much cheaper replacement for AI and reduces salary significantly. Philadelphia will surely request a 2011 first rounder and maybe a C-Bud for sweetner. ------- Houston Trades: Tracy McGrady Carl Landry Aaron Brooks to/for Toronto Trades: Chris Bosh Jose Calderon Houston gets the star we've sought in Bosh but pays a price in youth, cheap contracts and rising stars. Toronto reduces salary and gets cheap young impact players
Toronto has zero reason to do it. In return for their franchise player they get an hopelessly overpaid PG in Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas whose contract expires at the end of the season just like Bosh's contract.
The Raptors are rumored to be after Kevin Martin. If this means Bosh won't be moved at the trade deadline... Rockets: Dunleavy + Murphy + Foster Pacers: McGrady ↓ Worked into a multi-team trade Rockets: rights to Splitter + Dunleavy + Big Z Pacers: McGrady + Bonner Spurs: Foster + right to swap 2010 1stR pick with HOU Cavs: Murphy + Finley *Spurs allegedly interested in Foster and Cavs in Murphy.
Ok, I was just playing around with some scenarios and I came up with the following. There are two different trades between the Rockets and Indiana/New Jersey. 1. Houston and Indiana Houston trades - Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook, Joey Dorsey and a pick. Indiana trades - Danny Granger, Mike Dunleavy, and Troy Murphy. Houston does this for obvious reasons. Granger is a stud, 26, and the type of versatile wing player the team needs. Houston also gets two very serviceable players in Murphy and Dunleavy, both who can stretch the floor in different ways. Houston could also flip Dunleavy for an expiring if the interest is there from other teams. Indiana does this because they are in a financial mess, and there is little hope that they will be able to build off of their current foundation. I think they look at starting over with Hibbert/Hansborough at the C/PF positions, and continue to rebuild through the draft. 2. Houston and New Jersey Houston trades - Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola, and Trevor Ariza New Jersey trades - Devin Harris, Courtney Lee Houston does this trade because they get a young up and coming point guard who is already locked in long term, and another cheap young player to come off the bench behind Battier. They also don't mind losing Scola and Ariza because they were replaced by Murphy/Granger. Both Murphy and Scola are the same age and bring similar games, while Granger is a superior player to Ariza. New Jersey does this because they aren't completely sold on Harris as their PG of the future, and they get a cheaper, similar player in Brooks. They also essentially get both Brooks/Ariza for the price of Harris. They also get a savy veteran in Scola who would work well next to Lopez, as well as allow them to bring Yi off the bench. I also think Brooks/Ariza are two compliment players that they could tout as they court LeBron. I'm not sure what the Rocket financials would look like after this, but I imagine they'd have to move Dunleavy to save some money somewhere. C - Hayes/Andersen/Murphy/Yao PF - Landry/Murphy SF - Granger/Dunleavy/Budinger SG - Battier/Lee PG - Harris/Lowry
