With the trade deadline a month away!! The names of Bosh & Iguodala coming up as possible trading options!! I took it upon myself to give a breakdown (ie pros and cons) of what these two players bring to the table individually and what that player could bring to help the team as a whole.

First off, Andre Iguodala!! As i look at the stats from A.I. one thing shines above all the rest and two words come to mind?? SEASON-WARRIOR!!! In Andre first five seasons in the NBA, he has only missed (6) games. So we know that he comes to show and play his heart out night in and night out.

Stats credited to Andre Iguodala Stats

    Pros:

Slasher (can get to the free throw line)
Season Warrior (can be relied on throughout the season)
Fit w/ the Rockets long term (Only 25 w/ Ariza, Landry, Brooks, Budinger)
Not a selfish player (Highest PPG season was 19.9, so will differ to others)
Plays SG (a position where we drastically could use a upgrade at)

    Cons:

Three point shooting is low (.325 Career)
Agreed to a six-year, $80 million contract in '08 (contract kinda sucks)

Now, Chris Bosh!!! Bosh is a very different scenario for the Rockets moving foward. I'm going to call him "41 Rental" being that a deal for him will likely go down on the Feb. 18th deadline and he will become a free agent at the end of the year. As reports show trading for Bosh would be very costly for Houston in a long term sense. Rumors has stated that Landry or Scola w/ Brooks for Bosh & others for Toronto to even think about pulling the trigger on a deal. Its like playing Russian Roulette but you loaded all the bullets in the gun aka No Chance. Bosh does bring an element to the table but IMO I think he is just a more glorified Tayshaun Prince.

    Pros:

    Scorer

    Cons:

    "41 Rental" (look above)
Lose Carl Landry or Scola w/ Brooks will not help us in long term
If he plays w/ Yao it will only jam the paint (not enough shots to go around)
Going to ask for a lot of money in off-season

I will be happy to get either of these two players but IMO I would rather go with Andre because of what position he plays. I would rather give Scola 7-9 mil a year rather give Bosh 17 mil a year. So please tell me your thoughts on this post and give me a breakdown on who you would rather take.

    God Bless you all

Talent wise, its Bosh, and its not even close. Also, from all the reports in the media, if the Rockets were to make a move for Bosh, they'd be quite certain it'll not be a rental as Bosh is a Texas native. Also to add, the Iguodala deals and Bosh deals would be for different players meaning it doesnt have to be one or the other...it could be both :p

Bosh in the paint is better than Iggy on the perimeter on both ends of the court. Bosh/Yao combo gives the Rockets the best front court by a mile. Bosh actually compliments Yao better than almost an PF I can think of.

Morey won't do this deal unless he is assured Bosh is going to sign an extension with Houston.

but what if they give up Scola instead of Landry....and bosh signs that contract and plays with Yao. Its gonna stunt Landry development and really mess with his mental state in a baskeball sense. Right???

There are 96 minutes to be had at PF and Center. Without a doubt, Yao's minutes need to be limited (let's say 30 mpg). That leaves 34 for Bosh, 26 for Landry and even a couple of minutes left over for Chuck. If Yao plays fewer minutes (which is likely) it will leave even more minutes for Carl.

I don't think Carl's development is going to be stunted by Bosh and if it is, who really cares as long as the players who give the team the best chance of winning every night are out there?

Bosh is the better player, all things considered. The Rockets will have the MLE to spend next year on a more competent offensive wing, and hopefully Budinger develops well.

But ultimately, it depends on what the Rockets have to give up.

This is true... re-up Bosh ASAP, acquire our bi-annual obligatory Bonzi/Anderson/Jackson wing via the MLE (assuming Les bites a big ass bullet), and go to war.

No question Bosh is the better player, but assuming Yao comes back, it doesn't fill much of a need since we are deep at the 4. However, Bosh can play the 5 too. So I say go after the best player, its easier to attain a wing, and use that MLE or hopefully even Ariza to acquire someone who can create his own shot.

AI is just too quirky, inconsistent, and low percentage for my taste. I don't feel confident going into a 7 game series with that guy.

Bosh would be a perfect fit next to Yao. Yao is a great positional rebounder. He keeps his man off the glass and grabs everything that comes his way. Bosh has the length and athleticism to go grab the errant rebounds that Yao has trouble with.

Yao works primarily on the low block, but has decent range. Bosh can shoot from anywhere inside the 3 point line. He just as good, maybe better, than Scola at hitting those open mid range shots.. He can work from the high post, and help to spread the floor, and go down low when matchups dictate. The two are actually pretty interchangeable.

    Food for thought:
Aaron Brooks - 14.7 shots per game
Chris Bosh - 15.8 shots per game
There are enough shots to go around.

I still don't see why compare these two players, to my understanding It would be two separate deals, one involving McGrady's Contract(for Iguodala+ fillers) the other Involving Aaron and/or Landry or Scola + Filler(for Bosh).....like posted above it COULD be BOTH!!!

I think we go after Bosh. If we can get a wing player this season, great. If not we address that in the off season. I personally would rather have Bosh and Yao down low with 3 point shooters arond them. Igoudala is NOT a 3 point shooter.

Before I get started, please note that I've only read the OP, no other posts are taken into account in this response.

Wow...when I first started reading this post, I thought it was going to be an actual Pro/Con for both players. Perhaps we could have seen the strengths and weaknesses of both players separate or playing together (since many scenarios have us getting both Bosh and Andre by the off-season).

But instead, when I got to the Bosh Pro/Con portion of the post, I realized exactly how much bias the OP had. Scorer under Pros? That's it? No comparison to any other player we have at his position? No mention that it's already been reported that he'd agree to an extension with Houston or with the Lakers if he ends up being traded to either team (not sure of how accurate the source is for that, but it was reported). The only focus was on the Cons for Bosh, and there were a number of them, mostly complete and unfounded assumptions.

And there was not a single mention of having them play together. As well the same cons given for Bosh weren't even addressed in the cons for AI. Threads should be put together for entertainment or for education. This is propoganda at its...most obvious.

How about including a proper Pro/Con report on both players if your thread title actually claims to do so? At least try to be fair. Geez...

Agreed. He should have just left Bosh out of the thread and discussed Iguodala's pros and cons since he obviously loves Iguodala and doesn't care much for Bosh.

Either make a fair list for Bosh like you did Iguodala or don't bother. It was very transparent.

But I also stated in my post for you guys to include your own pros and cons. Also I stated that I like both of them coming to the Rockets. If ppl think that we somehow get both of these guys are dreaming hard cause its not going to happen

I don't think the Rockets should mess with their core guys too much. I believe the best way to utilize the Rockets assets (expiring contracts) to facilitate a deal would be as part of a three team trade: Houston, Chicago, and Toronto.

    Houston gets:
    Bosh (15.7)
    Salmons(6.4)2yrs
or Jerome James (6.6) if Salmons not available

    Chicago gets:
    Tmac (22.4)
    Sonny Weems (.74) 2 yrs

    Toronto gets:
    Heinrich (9.5) 3yrs
    Tyrus Thomas (4.7)
    Brian Cook (3.5)

This way Houston Gets Bosh and a SG (temporary?) with an expiring deal for next year. And Houston gets to keep its talent for another trade for a SG if they don't like Salmons. Chicago gets Tmac's expiring contract and unloads heinrich's deal. Toronto gets something in return for losing Bosh, Tyrus Thomas, and might be able to use Heinrich.

This trade would leave us with better options of attaining a better sg/sf than Salmons by using his expiring deal.

No not really. I can see Bosh slide to the Center position and Carl starting at the PF. Yao coming back will most likely come off the bench because he wouldn't be as effective. Yao is getting old and less effective and more fragile. Carl and Bosh are both younger and more productive so Rick would play whoever that would help the team the most.

I rather have Yao come off the bench as a back up center. That way, his minutes are lowered, he going against 2nd tier guys, and he can probably last longer in the season too by coming off the bench.

    You did?

Actually, you didn't ask for us to include our own pros and cons as the second quote demonstrates. In fact, you said that you took it upon yourself to list the pros and cons for "these two players".

You did ask us to give you our thoughts on your OP and to give you a breakdown on who we'd rather take in a trade. I decided to give you my thoughts on the OP and discarded your request for which player I would like in a trade. I didn't say it directly, but my first response explains that much of the talk involves both players being traded to the Rockets. I felt it was pointless to tell you which of the players I would rather have.

I am fortunate to have you tell me when I am "dreaming hard" because otherwise I may not know. However, the scenario in which both Bosh and Iguodala come to the Rockets is not as much of a dream as you think it is.

The Bosh deal potentially would not involve McGrady, as has been reported. The Iguodala deal would include McGrady. Those are two separate deals that may be tied into a 3-team trade. It's a realistic outcome. So if you still find it to be 'dreaming hard', then you're just not paying attention.

I apologize for being so harsh here, but I get a bit annoyed when people attempt to credit themselves with being non-biased and fair, but turn around and state propoganda as transparent as this. You can say that you like both players, but your analysis says otherwise.

I will leave this thread with the following comment: I appreciate your analysis of Iguodala, however this thread could have been substantially more useful if you had executed what the thread title suggests you would do, to have an actual Pro/Con breakdown of both players.

iggy is EXACTLY what we need at the 2 guard spot

im content with scolandry. but im NOT content with ariza on shooting guard.

the faster we find a play qualified to play hooting guard and get ariza back on the 3 the better this team will be.

If we got Bosh in a non T-Mc trade, then we should press for Marco Belinelli as well. Belinelli ($1.5M this year and $2.5M next) is a pure SG with range. He would not be as good a fit as Rudy Fernandez but close, very close.

A team of Brooks/Lowry; Belinelli/Ariza; Budinger/Ariza; Bosh/Scola or Landry (whoever is not traded); and Yao/Bosh/Anderson would be a pretty potent scoring team and decent defensively. We would lose either Scola or Landry as well as either Battier or Ariza + possibly Brooks or Lowry + sweeteners depending on how badly Colangelo rapes Morey.

The rockets need to decide whether they want to build a team like the magic have (three point shooters around a great big man) or a team that has multiple perimeter players who slash to the basket. If you have an "in btwn" team, that's when things get awkward on the court.
