I realize we are in rebuilding mode and not championship mode thus we have time to develop our draftees. However, this is a crucial period as we don't want to make a mistake and pick a dud. Thus, how much would you risk in the draft based on "potential"? Which route would you take? Player 1: Has unbelieveable athleticism and size, hasn't tapped into all his skills yet. Still undeveloped, lots of "potential". Very risky, but the payoff is huge. Player 2: Doesn't have the same athleticism as the one above, but has the B-ball IQ and maturity factor. More of a safe pick. Play it safe, or roll the dice? ------------------ Check out the new and improved Draftsource.net [This message has been edited by rocketsfan34 (edited June 08, 2000).]
Roll the dice baby. Crisco wants a new pair of championships. ------------------ I have a special purpose.
I like things safe, generally, but I think here the Rockets have to give potential due consideration and take their chances with it. And I feel safe with Rudy, CD and our scouting troop; they'll make a wise pick, I'm sure. Following is a list of my preferences just in case the top 8 teams are even more boneheaded then we are all sure they are: Martin Swift Miles Fizer Moiso Miller Oyedeji Mihm Alexander Pryzbilla Dermarr Johnson ------------------ http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
I think I've had enough of the Mike Miller's and Bryce Drew's. I'm ready for some Rashard Lewis' and Darius Miles'. ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
I'll take Player 1 any day of the week. To build a championship team, you have to take some risks. If you just keep playing it safe, you will end up stuck in mediocrity like the Detroit Pistons. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
roll the dice. with our coaching, what's the likelyhood of a johnson becoming a bust. Im sorry, playing it safe, with a petereson is not exciting. he doesnt do much for me. On one hand, we could be wrong with morris and he could turn out to be the next pre-injury steve smith, i doubt it though ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.
in the situation the rockets are in now i would have to take a chance, but a safe chance such as miles, swift, moiso,i even like thomas and porter even though there projected to be later drafts. if we cant get them go ahead with miller i trust rudy and the staff any way they decide to go. NO FOREIGN PLAYERS PLEASE! ------------------
Is #9 really "playing it safe?" It certainly isn't a #1, but it isn't exactly #30 either. Mostly, it depends on whether or not the Rockets believe they can get what they need from #9 or if they need to move up. I think that #9 will be adequate to add another piece to the puzzle. Even Rudy T. admitted recently that it will be several seasons before the Rockets are really in contention not just because they need players but because they need experience and, even more importantly, depth. He pointed to Portland as an example of a team with amazing depth. Adding pieces to the puzzle is the key to the Rockets future success. That is why they call it re-building. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
I would role the Dice baby ! but not on an international big man... the risks there are too great , just look at the ones we've picked before... now either out of NBA or warming up the bench somewhere ! ------------------ It's all about marketing !
One more thing , We all know how the lottery works every yr. All the predicitions pretty much go out the window and come lottery day basically the players that are supposed to go by such pick sometimes are there ... example: be truthful Who in here predicted the Bulls would take Elton Brand #1 pick last yr ? where was he supposed to go according to all the "experts" ? ..... see my point ! ------------------ It's all about marketing !
