Iggy is essentially Ariza on steroids with talent. He is arguably a better perimeter defender, better handles, can score off the dribble, and loves to drive.
Every Rockets trade rumor that pops up in the press the past couple of years has involved a power forward (Stoudemire, Bosh) OR.... (wait for it) (wait for it) ...a wing who can pass. Morey went after Caron Butler last year and was rebuffed (dangling Artest's contract). He tried to flush---er, TRADE---Tmac for Vince Carter, which Tmac sabotaged. And now the possibility of Iggy, which Philadelphia hasn't really come out and denied, denied, denied. It's tough to say just how good Iggy would be on this team, and he is about, say, 20% over-compensated, but his skills with this batch of players would be perfect. With Aaron Brooks as the "1", you need a "2" or a "3" who can pass, as Aaron is better at scoring than creating. Plus Iggy plays D and doesn't miss games.
I agree with you on Iggy. I have seen him play and wasn't impressed by his level of play. I would be satisfied if we ended up with him with a small bad contract(less than 5mil for no more than 1 more year), but I am praying that DM can pull off "Paul Gasol" trade.
IIRC, McGrady sabotaged a Tmac-Baron trade.. I thought the Nets declined McGrady-VC (they ended up trading him for CLee, which makes me believe they wanted a young asset in return for trading him.) But I remember Baron-Tmac being close.. which makes you wonder what Morey would've done with AB. I wonder if Morey would still do that? I actually don't think the Clippers would anymore - Baron was disgruntled and not playing well at the time.. they have seemed to mend some fences this year in Clipper land.
when was he insubordinate? a disagreement is not insubordination, he was told to come out of the game and he did every time, that's not being insubordinate, he was cooperative, he simply answered a question and said he was ready to increase his minutes that he felt physically okay. he didn't demand anything, and he certainly was not insubordinate.
man come on, its obvious rick was never going to give a chance. we were already without budinger, and ariza has been stinking it up and they still didnt want to give the guy more than 7 minutes. they claim it was for health reasons, but we all know what was really going on. and he didnt go to the media, he just answered a question.
"the rockets are asking for an arm and a leg for mcgrady." that's funny, since tmac can only offer an arm and a leg. fair trade, i say.
Sorry, but *enough* with the "fairness"! Do you think life is fair? Do you think the NBA is fair? All of the players play different amounts of minutes. Fair? I want to play on the Rockets just as much as Tracy McGrady, but they won't let me. Fair? People in wheelchairs have no chance of starting in the NBA. Fair? Would you make a list, please, of all the things that are fair in life? I bet you don't get past ten things, and most of them are from elementary school.
I'm sorry, but I can not believe Morey is that petty. Talk about not doing what is in the best interest of the team. If the Rockets are holding a grudge that would just be dumb. You can't make decisions like that. I think Morey and the Rockets are a bit smarter than that as their reasoning.
You're an idiot. McGrady has shown that he puts himself ahead of the team. Distancing him from the team is in the best interest of the team.
Unless they get Bosh for T-mac, I think the Rockets should hang on to him. I don't think they should pick up any B+ players with big contracts. Next years free agents is who the Rox should go after. As hard as the Rox are playing right now, without Yao or another Star they are not going to win it all. I hope they do, but honestly I doubt it. The best they can do right now is prove to next years free agents that they can be a contender next year. Remember how there were several players interested to play here with Yao, but when the word came out that he would be gone for the year all those players whent somewhere else. If we pickup some expensive contracts we may not be able to keep some our players and sign a free agent, but if T-mac is off the books the rox should have some money to temp some talent. Players have to look at how good the rox will be next year with Yao and these guys, plus say Bosh. We may get some good talent willing to play for less money to get a ring
The writer also doesn't realize that we won't have any money for FA's once his contract expires. If that were so,management wouldn't be looking for a trade. Say no to Iggy or Butler. The latter is struggling with the Wizards, and Iggy doesn't give enough bang for the buck. No use getting stuck with his contract, especially if Dalembert or Brand are attached with him.
Dalembert has been destroying people lately. 14 rebounds, 5 blocks tonight ! At this point I am hoping for us bailing out Toronto of thier bad but servicable contracts in Hedo/Calderon. Maybe a Calderon/Hedo/Bosh for Tmac/DA/Scola. We wouldnt have cap flexibility for a while, but I think that makes us a contender.
unless Tracy is landing us someone in the vein of Iggy or Bosh we should let Mac play I'm afraid we're being offered garbage with garbage contracts we have an above average expiring contract guy that wants to play and no real 2 guard let Tracy/Chase get the burn at 2 this whole "oh we've got offers...knicks want us to take Jeffries" situation is obviously not of any interest
Morey may not be, but Les could be capable of it. He owns the team, after all. I look at it this way... Les/Morey/Adelman won't do anything to hurt the team they are trying to build, but if by improving that team they can also shaft a well deserving and bent over Tracy, they will.
