We had Joel Osteen on today (very, very nice guy) on our show & when talking about the history of Lakewood, he mentioned that "and Now we're in the former Compaq Center and I can look up and see where I used to have season tickets to all the Rockets games & of course we won two Championships there".

I almost fell over because being that we're based out of the Dallas area, EVERYONE there are huge Mavericks fans, including the host of the show and the entire control room. Had to turn and give a grin to the new guy I'm training on the floor, who jarred with me about the last 2 ROX-Mavs games.. he was not happy..It was a great feeling. Then the boss told the control room that there was some "Houston Pride on the floor".

    you bet there is..haha.

That greedy son of a gun harnessing Rockets mojo for his own benefit. The powers that place possesses weren't meant for one man to control.

That was the sacred birthplace of Clutch City.
The Summit of all that was good in the NBA.

Loved the Summit because I didn't have to go all the way downtown to catch a game or any other event. If the Summit is the place that Dream built, then its also the place that Steve Francis burned down.

While I am not a fan of Joel Osteen (or religion in general), I am a huge fan of reminding Mavs fans that we have two championship banners to their zero. Go Joel!

I used to play basketball with Joel at the Post Oak YMCA when he worked at Channel 51 before taking over for his father.

He is not a good guy, he is a GREAT guy, and a heck of a basketball player, always hustling on the court.

His parents were/are great also. Maybe you met Duncan Dodds - no small man himself on and off the court.

Ha, I heard he could hoop, I always wanted to challenge him at some point in my life! And yes, he is a great guy, can't knock his immeasurable compassion for people in general.

We have more NBA championship banners in a freaking church than Dallas has in their whole dumb town.
