To be fair he only included 5 rotation players in his trade, McGrady really wasn't part of the rotation...

So... from a business standpoint it makes sense to keep Yao, but does it make sense, basketball wise, with his history of injuries? Keep in mind, Yao will be nearly 30 years old when and if he regains anything approaching his competitive level of play.

Does he mean the Rockets direct revenue stream or Les' overall earnings? You can manipulate the books to reflect whatever you want. Morey could easily be stating the truth while lying at the same time.

Regardless of the truth, whether Yao really is Les' cash cow or that Les has some weird fetish for Yao, the guy has ZERO chance of leaving.

I am pretty sure that the idea that Yao brings in huge amounts of money for the Rockets is a myth.

That said, I'd agree the chances of Yao being shipped off anywhere are pretty low, especially now that T-Mac's gone.

not gonna happen. no way TOR trades their franchise player who hasn't even stated that he's leaving for cap space. if TOR didn't have bosh, they'd be competing with the nets for the worst record in the league.

Lebron James hasn't stated he's leaving Cleveland yet speculation has been going for 2+ years......

So it's logical that the conversation of Bosh leaving Toronto was bound to occur at some point.

I tried to make it clear in that post that I was focusing on basketball-related stuff only, or what I think you're referring to as direct revenue.

If not, that was my intention.

I am a fan of Yao Ming. He's an incredible player and human being.

However, I am not a fan of the occasional crazy talk that this franchise will crumble without him.

With all the threads in the NBA Dish, I really, REALLY hope that Bosh doesn't get traded to LA for Bynum.

    Yes and no.

No way Toronto trades their franchise player who hasn't even stated PUBLICLY, to the media, that he's leaving....for cap space (this last part, very true).

If I were Colangelo and looked around the NBA landscape in the summer of 2010, I'd say, Only two reasons for Bosh to stay in Toronto: money (that sixth season of re-signing your own free agent) and loyalty (he's been there awhile).

But the money better talk LOUD and CLEAR if Bosh still finds himself on the Raptors in June, because turning your back on the franchise that drafted you will be like pulling off a Band-Aid. Hurts for a second. Scab heals quick. And forget about it.

Canada's high tax rate mitigates any advantage Toronto has of resigning him.

    What happened to the "trademark?"

And are you serious? Does that mean that Toronto will never get a superstar?

I don't think anyone's suggesting the Rockets will crumble without Yao. Simply that it's just not to Les' benefit to ever get rid of Yao, even if it ends up getting us a better basketball player.

I really doubt we'll ever know the exact answer to Yao's impact on the Rockets financially. But it's pretty clear that Yao will never come up as a possible trade candidate.

I just hope that Les is actually more concerned with whatever helps us win, then revenue that may or may not be coming in from a certain player.

I have faith in the organization that Winning > Revenue

Not to mention the fact that Bosh's endorsement deals he would get in China if he is teamed with Yao on the Rockets. Why wouldn't Bosh not want to come and play in Houston.

I am just saying that there is a good chance that Bosh leaves.

I am sure he would like to make more money in a Tax friendly state.....IE, not California or Canada.

Believe it or not, I've seen a number of posts saying just that.

    Some people are that delusional.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. Obviously the Rockets are without Yao right now and the team is doing pretty well.

Now, if you were to argue that without Adelman that the team would crumble...
