Is kyle Lowry not enough of a legit Ball-Handler for you!?! ...but I see what your saying we would need a back to Lowry if Brooks is traded, I think if a McGrady trade goes down we could probably get another Ball-handler from that trade....cough*Jrue Holiday via Phili. trade*cough..

I think we should offer Yao for Bosh to overcome any offer of Bynum for Bosh!

Here is how the trade would work:

(This is just to mess with YaoMac09 for starting that other thread! )

    Houston Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -11.0 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

    Philadelphia Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -7.0 ppg, -14.0 rpg, and +4.3 apg.

    Toronto Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: +18.0 ppg, +13.3 rpg, and -1.5 apg.

    * = expiring, prospect, bad contract

    Rockets trade:
    *McGrady, *Brooks, Andersen to Philadelphia
    Battier, *Scola, *Landry to Toronto

    Philadelphia trades:
    Igoudala, *Brand to Houston
    *Dalembert, *Speights to Toronto

    Toronto trades:
    Bosh to Houston
    *Johnson, *Calderon to Philadelphia

    Rockets receive:
    Bosh, Igoudala, *Brand

    Philadelphia receives:
    *McGrady, *Brooks, Andersen, *Calderon, *Johnson

    Toronto receives:
    Battier, *Scola, *Landry, *Dalembert, *Speights

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

    What you think?

Houston - Gets its 'star power' - takes on Brand.

Philadelphia - Gets its 'point guards' - removes Brand, Dalembert.

Toronto - Gets its replacements, 'adds depth' - removes Calderon.

I'm thinking for Toronto it's more important for them to cut lose of Calderon than it is to take on Brooks and the only way both teams approve is if Philly cuts lose of both Brand and Dalembert.

    * = expiring, team option, player option
    1: Yao Ming
    2: Chris Bosh*
    3: Elton Brand
    4: Andre Igoudala
    5: Trevor Ariza
    6: Kyle Lowry*
    7: Chase Budinger
    8: Von Wafer
    9: Chuck Hayes*
    10: Will Conroy
    11: Joey Dorsey
    12: Brian Cook*
    13: ???
    14: ???
    15: ???

Hayes / Dorsey / (IR: Yao)
    Bosh / Brand
    Ariza / Budinger
    Igoudala / Wafer
    Lowry / Conroy

    I'd do it.

Where has Bosh said he doesn't want to play too close to home? I've seen the opposite, but have never seen a quote where he has said he doesn't want to.

For those saying Yao should be shipped, bear in mind that he brings in revenue that far outstrips his salary. Think of him as a personal subsidy to the team. Even if he was our last man off the bench, his value to the team makes him untradable.

I personally expect to see him retire here, unless he chooses to leave.

Bosh is a heck of a player he is always welcomed in Houston, but i don't expect to see him retire there when it's obvious they have no chance.

Yao brings revenue because he was good enough to be a top center in the league.

He will not bring money if he does not have similar production.

The talk about trading Yao is just bulletin board fantasy. I doubt it has any counterpart in the actual organization.

DD, i know you're wishing it doesnt happen like the rest of us, but dont let that cloud your thinking about whether it will work. Bosh added to that core is crazy and almost unfair. You throw chemistry killer around like its the new pink or something. Great players can always play with other great players. Great players have problems with mediocre guys and cant understand why guys cant perform on their level. Bosh in that mix would blend perfectly. You can trick yourself into thinking otherwise if u like.

Give the extent to which the NBA does revenue sharing - it's highly unlikely that this is true:

Winning is what makes your franchise more profitable - with Yao or without.

In Morey's 610 interview this past week, he stated that 85% of our revenue is tied to wins and losses, not Yao Ming being Chinese.

Here's the podcast in case you missed it (scroll down to Daryl Morey 1/7/10): http://www.sportsradio610.com/pages/151256.php

The other 15% also probably has little to nothing to do with Yao being Chinese.

The big increase in revenues the Rockets experienced several years ago was mostly due to the opening of the Toyota Center if I recall correctly. I think Sam Fisher touched on this several times.

Maybe Yao benefits Les off the court but I'm not getting into that because I know very little about it.

Yao and Les are friends with benefits? What kind of benefits does Yao give Les off the court? Tell us the "very little" you know about it.

I've read about business deals in China that Les engages in off the court because of his relationship with Yao.

I don't know the validity of these things or any details.

I was just speaking on the basketball-related revenue that Yao brings into this organization. My understanding is that it has little to nothing to do with him being Chinese. If he helps them win games because he's a good player, that is probably his biggest impact in that respect.

I've seen some ridiculous statements by the YOFs out there that claim this franchise would crumble without Yao and the revenue he generates for the Rockets. That is absurd and untrue. The organization will be fine when he's gone.

This. Yao Ming is indeed a cash cow, but its for the ENTIRE league, not just the Rockets. China only wants to watch Rocket games, but the NBA doesn't offer team packages, it markets the whole league, therefore China benefits the league in general. The Rockets will benefit as long as Yao Ming is playing in the league, even if its for another team.

As far as jersey sales and all that, by this time almost all the fans who would buy a Yao jersey have already bought one, and its not like these guys buy Yao Ming jerseys every year. That income stream has already been exploited, and any further gains are negligible.

As far as what Yao does for Les off the court, my guess is the fact that Yao Ming is playing for the Rockets gave Les some favorable rep when he tried investing there, thanks to Yao he became "Yao's team owner", instead of just another white guy. However by this time I would assume Les is already firmly entrenched in the Chinese market. Yao was needed to get his foot in the door, but I doubt he's really needed for Les to continue doing business.

Most important of all, the Chinese are an extremely pragmatic and practical race. The main reason Yao Ming became so popular wasn't because he was Chinese, but because he was pretty darn good, and held the mantle of best Center in the league for a couple of years. If Yao comes back a shell of his former self I doubt he would still be popular as he is now, guys like Wang Zhizhi and Yi have shown that race is secondary to performance even in China.

If that happens I hope Les does the right thing and trades him for some good talent.

Had to fix a part of it there...

Well, Houston trades 6 ROTATION PLAYERS AND ONLY GETS 3 IN RETURN. I think it's pretty much the worst trade proposal I've ever seen. You leave the team...a team that is playing very well together...with 3 roster spots to fill and yet, you managed to keep Dorsey & Brian Cook.

    That's because you're an idiot.
