As a chinese student from beijing, i saw windandsea's thread "Chinese Media sina.com dig clutchcity.net". I am shocked by the fact. And i despise some actions of chinese media.
i don't want to talk about copyright here. It doesn't belong to the catogory of the BBS.
I respect your free press. i love this bbs for friendly communication of fans.Just not considering his nationality.
But i can't bear words of some members toward my devoted country. It's unfair. I feel disappointed and furious.

    Just lood at this

    1.
    No,

China & all the rest of Asia.

They steal the games we make and sell them on the black market and we do not get a penny for it.

Disgusts me.......maybe I should get Yao Ming to give me a percentage of his salary too.

    DaDakota

    2.HA HA !!!

Welcome to my world....China and Asia have been stealing my work for YEARS....

They do not observe our copyright laws, which is why any contract we sign with them is basically invalid.

    DaDakota

    Please learn to respcet.
    That's all

They are just speaking the truth..... and they have an article to show some of what they are talking about.

If CUSTOMS change, then you may have a chance to make this argument.

it's a pity that you still don't understand me. Copyright problems exist in China for sure. Many economic factors lead this. We are trying to pursuit solving methods.
Else I don't know if it is fair that a man living a developed country rebuke with impassioned emotion a developing country. In this country 900000000 peasants live a life you will think poor. When you are roaming in the internet with a cup of coffee aside, they are fighting for bread.
Please don't throw sewage toward the whole china and the whole respectable chinese people. They are friendly.I love them!

    Thanks!!!

You make some excellent points, and being from China myself, I can see where you are coming from.

However, I must defend Dadakota in that he is only making fun, and there's nothing malicious involved. He does make a few good points about the software industry.

Whenever I return to China, I make sure to stock up on cheap software because I could be saving myself hundreds of US Dollars. While I sympathize for the immense amount of good Chinese citizens who are suffering due to their economic status, that doesn't mean the better privileged have nothing to complain about. If someone were to steal my own work and make money off it, I would be extremely angry (as would you, or so I hope).

Anyway, I just want to say I really respect your opinion, but I feel like this is more or less a cultural clash instead of racism. What DaDakota said was meant in jest, and please don't take it seriously.

    I appreciate your sincerity Wangfan.

But don't overreact. Dada is a repectible man as far as I know (from his posts and all). This is just about perception and there is some thuth in it. China and chinese culture countries do have a relatively weak track record in protecting the copy rights. Actually africa and LA aren't better, but no one cares since markets there are small.

No, not all chinese are stealing and I am sure DaDa is just trying to be sacarstic. Just like you will hear people on some chinese bbs say Americans are selfish bullies in discussing some touchy issues. (I hate those warships on Taiwan streit). I am sure you have found out many Americans are quite loveling.

One of the things you will find out here is not to take others words too seriously. Just be yourself. It's up to you (and me) to show how much China has come a long way and who the Chinese people really are.

    Best

wang has a valid point about china being a developing country, we in the US are dormant, we haven't had our whole country rebuilt twice(+), we havent had rapes and battles on our land, we've had winners luck and no idea of whats going on within the world other then the confines of the US.... some do.... but

DaDakota does have a valid greedy point, of course its only because its writing I truly agree, I'm all for the Chinese Software and Movie Piracy, lot cheaper in my wallet if I could cash in on that....

the writted word is all hype here in the US, its never "news" "this happened today" ... its "BREAKING NEWS AT 5" "PEOPLE WILL SELL DRUGS, RAPE YOU'RE CHILDREN, PROSTITUTE THEMSELVES, KILL PEOPLE, AND ROB STORES... AND THATS JUST THE BEGGINING AT 5"
    china knows propaganda
and so does every country that has LOST...

but the word, back the FU&^ of my written word, GO DaDakota, demand fair rights for writers with this information overload, this aint fairy telling fire place stories of noah for christ sakes....

    WANG, buy a Ming Jersey... please(shhh X300,000,000)

the rockets are the deepest team in the league, all this hatred is just waiting for it to happen
    ROCKETS WILL BE CHAMPIONS AGAIN
and soon on my US dollar...
    peace

I totally agree... but this experience has been fun though. I don't care if Ming turns out be a star or a bust (I care, but I'm trying to make a point). This draft have given us and experience that probably can't be emulated anywhere else... It is great to be able to meet people with different point of views and cultural backgrounds. It is also to be great to share something that I truly love with people thousands of miles away. I hope everyone on this board can really seize this opportunity and stray away from bigotism (I'm not pointing fingers here... no one here on this board is a bigot quite yet :D ).

    Greg = Gregory Gym

Gregory Gym is the gym where a lot of casual ballers go play here @ UT. It's always packed at night during the regular school semesters. There's always a good opportunity to get into an interesting pick-up game at the Greg.

I think it is okay to be offensive at certain times. I don't think there was ever a joke that couldn't be broken down into something offensive. Being offensive can sometimes lead to greater things. It's when being offensive does not lead to greater things that we should try to hold our tounge.

    IMHO

Actually, DaDa is a game developer(if memory serves me correctly) and as such , is VERY opiniated about piracy (needless to say) and I can totally see were he's coming from. I don't think any one country is more to blame than others....but this is the wrong forum for this discussion...in the future if you want to discuss stuff like this, take it to the Hangout.:)
