    Maybe

The hangup is whether or not our current cast of characters + Bosh is enough to convince Bosh to stick around, ie be contenders. Im not sure if it is.

Actually Yao is very likely if this rumor is true, especially after Morey's "nobody is untouchable" comment.

If they ask for Yao, DO IT!

It means we lose nothing this season, and next season Yao can opt out of his contract and sign here for the minimum :p

Seriously though why on earth would they want Yao? Exact same situation with both contract wise.

Pretty sure Morey didn't mean Yao, since they were talking about active roster.

You people are out of your mind if ya ll want to trade brooks, scola and whoever else for freakin Bosh...Brooks IMO should be untouchable along with Yao.

    Sorry if i missed anything...

But why would they even ask for Yao?

I thought the whole point of trading Bosh is so that they don't lose him for nothing, Yao has a player option next year just like Bosh.

How accurate is Marc Stein? I have a hard time believing any trade rumors right now, since it's close to the 2nd week of Jan., now if this talk is still going strong a week before trade deadline, I'll believe it more.

    Can you trade injured players?

sure but they have this guy in the backcourt - plays the 2

think he has more to do with the championship than any huge front court

we will need a good 2 for sure. Look at Cleveland - there is no way we win starting with Budinger or Ariza or Wafer at the 2

I'd only do the Toronto deal if they throw in Reggie Evans, so that we will have someone to defend Kaman's jewels when we play the Clippers.

Don't give Brooks in this trade!

If we give Brooks and Landry, we would have Lowry, Ariza, and Battier in this starting line-up. Lowry's scoring is inconsistent, don't need to talk about Ariza and Battier. We need Brooks badly this season, and also the following season.

If we can get Bosh without giving up Brooks, he will be the answer if we can't get a good SG in terms of scoring with Bosh + Yao in the frontcourt.

Don't think Morey is trading Yao. With him, rather than taking 30 cents on the dollar, you are better off taking the 30 percent chance of getting a dollar.

Exactly what I've been trying to say in this thread. It would be stupid to trade all our best players for Bosh and bad contracts, when there is a pretty good chance he'll go somewhere else next season. We would be trading our best players for bad, long term contracts and hoping he would re-sign here.

Who do you think he'd rather play with? An injury prone C or Wade, LeBron?

I'm not sure what the pace is of this curent squad, but without yao and tracy they're in the 48 win range i think, don't quote me though. Adding bosh and subtracting yao would probably give the team at least 4-5 more wins. The true essence of yao coming to the rockets is even if he wants to bolt, the rocket do have sign and trade rights along with bird rights. The rockets could let tracy's contract expire alone and add a 8m player or flip him for say some of the deals reported. They would already have the superstar or star they have been craving and its shown they have really good role players. Shaq and Yao are the last of the true on the block pivots. It wouldn't be a problem at all for bosh to play center with the rockets. I think they would be close enough to make him bite because of the younger guys and the coach.

I would do it as long as I could lock up Bosh. I would have to have assurances, but from a health point of view, I can't trust Yao moving forward anymore than I can bank on McGrady.

If Colangelo was somehow dumb enough to propose this, I wouldn't even blink before taking this to the bank.

That's probably exactly what it would take with some variation to get Calderon off their books.

I'd like to have Bosh but I don't want to give up Brooks, Landry, Lowry, Battier, or Butinger. I don't want to give up Scola but I'd do it if it got us Bosh.

i dont think i'd trade yao for bosh if all we had at center was hayes and DA...i dont think that puts us in any better position to defend. We need a defensive anchor in the post and that's not bosh. If we're going to give up the star center route and go through the start PF route, we still need a decent center like Boston has in perkins. He's not great, but he does what a starting center should at least do, defend, block, and rebound.

So i hope it's a 3 way trade or another in the works to get us a center. If that's the case, then yes.
