I never really got into Jay-Z and never bought the whole he's a good lyricist deal.

That one with JD, man I feel bad for him. He's getting eaten alive, well IMO. X can spit nasty and so can Em. Eminem can say something so simple but the way he puts it makes you look so bad. I don't know who from SSD would want to get in, b/c they'd just look like a punk. If Bow-Wow gets in, that'll be a bad move for his career in my eyes. He took the "Lil" out of his name to show he's a big boy, but if he tries to battle with some of the big boys, he'll go back to being a little puppy.

I'll admit that "Money,Power,Respect" was wacky, but a lot of the Lox' lyrics are great!! Kiss, and Styles solo albums aren't too shabby either. I guess I could take them out of the "best lyricist" category, but it would be hard for me since i'm biased.See... my sister dated Jadakiss for a little bit, and I've met the Lox a few times, and you get into artists even more when you've met them. And no...I don't have pictures!!!!:D

I agree that its hard to call anyone the greatest, but I'd have to give it to common, though behind all these great MCs there are great producers! Pete Rock, Premier, RZA, Dre, Hi-Tek, ?uestlove, Large Pro, hell even Puffy. They sure helped the great MCs be even better.

Good god, Tupac is ultra overrated. If he didn't die, he wouldn't have as much respect as he did now. Same with Cobain, same with Hendrix, same with Biggy. That being said...

    Jay. Peopo dont hate!!
Luda - boy got tons of charisma
Pac - much respect but overrated, though 50% of rappers cop his flow
Outkast - insane, slick, and i dunno they just nice
I don't relate to Nas's lyrics but his flow is sickness
    Biggy is freakin sick too.

Deion has come to my church several times. He even appeared on our Sunday night talk show. IMO, he's very sincere.

Are you saying that if Hendrix didn't die, he wouldn't be getting the same respect as he is now???? I have to disagree with you there. He was ahead of his time and still can't be matched, IMO. You also said Biggie as well, but you said he has sick flows as he is on your list. So you believe he's good but he's also overrated? Just trying to get this straightened out. :)

The reason you can see him as over rated is because so many
    are copping his style.

What makes him great is not only lyrics but diversity of topics.
Dear Momma, Brenda Had a Baby, etc were some of his better songs

    Rocket River
some stealing his flow. . but now copying what mattered most. . . the SUBSTANCE

I just remembered Big Daddy Kane... he was the man before he got all romeo.

    "Here I am, R. A. W. -
A terrorist here to bring trouble to-
    phony M.C.'s,
    I move like the breeze..."

Anyway, in light of recent history maybe that's a bad example.

But he had some mad skills.

BizMarkie was his goofy side kick.
