Also, how is Portland going to afford Pippy, Wallace, Stoudamire and McGrady's contracts?

Are you asking if Paul Allen can afford another $80M or so? That's tip money for him.

Instead of offering Grant and Wells for Tracy McGrady in a sign-and-trade why not offer those two for Duncan in a sign-and-trade or to Grant Hill in a sign-and-trade. Alright the Hill deal is possible, but I am pretty sure the Duncan deal is not. Not too long ago Mitch Lawrence reported in his ESPN column that the Blazers would offer Rasheed Wallace and Steve Smith for Duncan and if that is possible then I say San Antonio go for Wallace and Smith.

CCrow that is my perspective too. If Portland really wants to improve, the best way to do that is to get a franchise go-to-guy. Be it Duncan, Carter, Iverson, Garnett or maybe Webber, even if it costs them Sheed + Wells or Oneal (it is not like either of these two are that important in the short run) that is the direction I think they must do.

Outside of adding a player who instantly is the best player on Portland's team, perhaps they could improve by upgrading the PG or C position. They still would need a player the quality of say Mutumbo, Bibby or maybe Brandon I would think, and if they insist on keeping Sheed I would suspect Grant + Stoudimare + Wells or Oneal would be needed, with perhaps the exception of for Brandon where they might only need Grant + another player.

We all know that T-Mac is one of the more up and coming players in the league, but should he warrant the maximum salary?

What would the max be anyway?

We need some meat in the post!
