Ariza is only good at 2 things. Spot up three and cut to the basket but that requires a good passer who can find him cutting. Right now, he's doing way too much.

His ballhandling skills are terrible, and his foot work on offense is just as bad. This guy isn't a triple threat type of player but he think he is. I just think he is trying way too hard.

In order for him to be much better on offense, he must improve his ball handling and foot work vastly. I can't stand watching him try to create offense for himself or someone else any more. Ariza needs a star player by his side. He is not the 1st or 2nd option. On a good team, he will be the 4th or 5th option.

A star player will not only take the pressure off of him but also create shots for him. If Chris Paul is playing for the Rockets, Ariza ppg would go up and his FG % will go up also.

When he gets the ball I am thinking pass the damn thing don't shoot, but he does anyway. I can here the clunk of the ring before it even gets there.
pwned is such a nice word for what I am thinking!

This whole ball-stopper concept is a rather annoying topic. In my book, there's no such thing as a great playmaker that's not a ball stopper in some capacity. For that reason, when McGrady was at his best he was never the ball-stopper that plenty around these parts try to make him out to be. The problem was last year when we added a player like Artest, we sort of overlooked how he tries to play similarly to McGrady despite possessing 1/5th of the natural talent. Needless to say, we quickly found out that playing those two on the same unit was nearly impossible -- they clashed, they became redundant, movement/flow suffered, etc.

Enter: Trevor Ariza. Again, another player trying to do too much. We can get away with Ariza masquerading himself as a playmaker because we really don't have a natural playmaker on our entire roster (besides Lowry) so the whole McGrady/Ariza clashing factor obviously doesn't exist given that we've decided to pull the plug on the whole Tracy comeback thing.

So to answer your question: it's easily Ariza. Not that it hasn't became abundantly clear that Ariza is the next great whipping boy on this board or anything, though.

Ball-Stopper = Scola... he is a blackhole.....he hardly ever passes out of the post ..it goes to him and offense stops while everyone waits for him to shoot.

All this bashing of TA, my only complaint about him is that he makes quicker decisions when he drives to the basket, that way he stops getting stuck right outside the lane or semi-circle looking for a pass

Ballstopper. Unbelievable! You know anybody can be a ballstopper in this league. Carl landry is one but truth being your best playmaker is going to be a ballstopper. I understand the Rockets have moved on from Mac, but honestly Ariza is doing the same thing Mac was doing. I think that's why I think Adelman contradicts himself. Saying we have a different offense. Yet Trevor ariza at the top of the key is really a disadvantage. He rushes everything. Mac used to hold the ball to survey the situation. Trevor is going to have to that because right now he is rushing everything. Jmo

    1. catch the ball and if his feet are set and he is open, shoot.

    2. if his feet are not set or he is not open, look for the drive and finish.

    3. if the lane is clogged and no drive available, look for the post entry pass and cut through quickly.

    4. if no post entry available, swing the ball and cut.

DO NOT DRIBBLE AROUND LOOKING FOR A JUMP SHOT OR AN ASSIST.

There is an example of a ball stopper out there and I just thought of him! Ricky Davis if anybody on the Rockets has similar game to him then that's a ballstopper, so that being there are no ball stoppers on this team. Not even T mac! Ron Artest his game was close to Ricky Davis because all Artest saw was the rim!
