They put up 32 against Florida in the SEC championship game. They have the best pass defense in the country, I can see them getting at least one pick 6. Texas has struggled in their last two games and barely escaped with victories.
I have no ties to either team and couldn't care less who wins, but thats just my opinion of how the game is going to play out.

Florida rushing defense isn't even in the top 10 in the nation and Alabama played the game of their life against Florida.

I made note of it immediately after the Tex-Neb game, but it probably bears repeating in this thread (if someone else hasn't already said it): It seems to me that Texas played tight all year. They were expected to win all their games and make it to this game. McCoy was expected to compete for the Heisman. It would have been a huge disappointment if they had stumbled along the way. This will be the first game of the year where they are not expected to win and consequently, I think they will play looser and better than any previous game. Texas might also break out some good trickeration for the first time this year. Watching Mack and Saban this week, you can almost sense Bama getting tight and Texas having fun... and watching some of their players, you can tell they're a little overconfident... tight and cocky is not a good combo.

Also, there's no Suh over there. Bama gets pressure by blitzing LBs and DBs. They'll come up with some new schemes, but McCoy should be able to figure it out throughout the course of the game and make some plays. On pass plays, Cody can't consistently collapse the pocket and drive McCoy into the outside rushers like Neb did. Watching Cody chase Tebow was like a fat old Basset Hound trying to chase balls with a 2 year old Lab... just sad. What Cody does do is plug the middle against runs and middle screens... so you pass when he's in there and run enough to keep everyone honest when he comes out. Texas will probably roll the pocket away from the expected blitzer and make Cody run when he's in there.

I also expect the Texas special teams to contain Arenas like they did Bush. I seriously doubt there will be many fieldable punts to either Arenas or Shipley.

The key for Texas is to score early and put pressure on Bama to play catch-up. If that happens, I think the Texas pass defense makes some plays and Texas could end up winning by 2 or more TDs. If not, it will be in the high teens or low twenties and anyone's ball game.

Should be good... because it starts at 5:00 here, I'm planning on taking off work early to prepare the man cave in anticipation of a fun game.

Well they aren't now, not after Alabama put up 251yds on them. Going into the game they were ranked #8 in the country giving up about 90 yds a game.

The thing that nobody is talking about is that the Texas offense actually got its stuff together in the second half. Were it not for a dropped pass by Kirkendoll that would have unquestionably gone for a touchdown and a freak interception when Nebraska ripped the ball from Buckner, Texas could have easily been a two touchdown winner, and suddenly this maligned offense wouldn't look so bad.

Also, why is no one giving any credit to the Texas defense? In the Nebraska game, they only allowed one drive of longer than 13 yards. One. Now, only an idiot would expect a similar performance against Alabama and Ingram, but why is everyone just assuming Alabama will be able to score without problem. It's not like they have never been stopped... Five teams have held them to 26 points or less.

I expect a close, hard-fought game that won't be decided until late. I get that good defenses stop good offenses... it's been well documented. What I don't get is why this applies to Alabama and is disregarded when it comes to Texas.

Should be a classic. I'm looking forward to Thursday night. I'm debating whether to head somewhere close to campus to watch the game and be down there should UT win (which I think they will). Then again, I just recently joined the last decade and got a HD tv.

    Texas - 24
    Bama - 20

I'm debating a bar vs. home; Hill Country in Manhattan will have it but I don't know if it's a good game watching spot and anticipate it could be a total clusterf-ck. Rodeo Bar on 20-something will probably also have it, and I think that Stout over by MSG is also reportedly a Longhorn place. Probably just end up at home in the end.

me too, but i think i'll be bouncing off the walls so a bar might be less offensive to the wife. doubt i head in the city though, i'm in the slope and there are a ton of places to watch here.

That's my problem. If I stay home, I'll have to dvr it since I've got 2 kiddos going to bed. Then, I'll have to stay quiet and/or yell into pillows...causing my wife to be more concerned about my mental health than she already is.

Hmm, ticket prices have seemed to really drop. I see some for under $500. I wonder why....

Not surprising. As much demand as there was at the beginning, there were a lot of people who got tickets and had no intention of ever using them. I was lucky and did well flipping a couple of tickets and got mine pretty cheap.

It'll be interesting to see if market changes on game day and if there are only buyers instead of sellers at the stadium.

That may be the case. I'm seeing a lot on stubhub.

I think I have the worst ticket luck ever. My advice is to find out what I did, and do the exact opposite. 4 years ago I tried to buy on game day and blew it. Last year I had 4 tickets at right above face and then they were hard to get rid of because it was a crap game and FL residents all got a shot to buy game tickets (and FL went). This year I did the ticket reserve thing and got one for around $580, but now prices are dropping, lol.

    End of rant....
