Congrats! Glad everyone is doing well. Fun times ahead. I was in your shoes exactly a year ago. My daughter turned 1 today.
Congrats, emjohn! I know exactly what you're going through. My wife delivered our son (now age 10) through an emergency c-section. They asked me "which one do you want to save, mom or baby?" as they wheeled her in... then she had some touch and go moments for a couple of days. Be sure to really stay ahead of any infection possibilities... And be strong, man. She's gonna lean on you heavily to do a lot for a few weeks, but you'll do fine. Tell her we're praying for her and the baby.
Sincere and deep thanks to all of you - it was a big ordeal for us. Who knew that it would take a couple days before we'd move on to the "which of us does he look like" phase. Mom is fully out of the woods! I'm going to be taking everyone home a little later on today and am taking FMLA to take care of the two of them for the upcoming weeks. The final diagnosis is that pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome* were big players on top of the bleed out issues. Dogged a bullet the size of a train. And since I heard the thread is useless without pics: <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/gkyx6D9O3EDS2TuNra4lhQ?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_bqQ5Fe0LUhw/S0Nkf0rXbNI/AAAAAAAAABg/qFtw1LfcwLU/s144/2010-01-03%2012.54.35.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/EvanMS150/BabyBenArrive?feat=embedwebsite">Baby Ben Arrive</a></td></tr></table> * or, as I call it, HELL Pregnancy syndrome
Congrats, man. Glad to hear you guys made it through ok, I know how stressful that event can be. Yeah, same here...though I didn't have that question posed to me. Wow, that's scary. But yeah, everything happened so fast once they decided the change of plans. I was actually sitting in the little waiting room after they wheeled her in before they let me go in...watching her doctor and nurses go racing past the doorway. Scary stuff.
