My 60GB Ipod is full so I bought an 120 GB Ipod. I want to transfer the music from my 60GB to the larger one, since I think its on the verge of shutting down completely. Project Shutdown. What software do I need to undertake this task of epic proportions?
http://www.dvd-ipod.biz/video_tools/ipod_2_ipod.html http://download.cnet.com/iPod-to-Computer-Transfer/3000-2141_4-10665647.html looks like most of them you have to pay for..or you can try to find them via torrentz or something.
Download this program called "DiskAid." It will do the trick, done what you are trying to do several times already!
i paid about $15 for a program that allows you to drag and drop from your ipod directly onto your pc - called 'ipod reader for windows' or something. just google ipod download to computer or something and look around.
SharePod moves the music from any iPod to a hard drive. SharePod puts music from any hard drive to an iPod. www.getsharepod.com FREE. Also, I am guessing that somewhere on your PC you have the music from your iPod? Then why not just transfer it from the iTunes on that PC to the new iPod? What's the point of 120GB of songs? Do you actually listen to all of them in one sitting or synchronization?
Look, there's a lot of programs out there (spell iTunes backwards, and you'll find another one) that can do this for you, but learn your lesson next time. BACK UP YOUR iTUNES LIBRARY. [GENERIC RANT] Seriously, take responsibility for your data, and back up your music. It is not my fault you don't know how your computer works. It is not my fault you don't have your work computer anymore because you got fired. I.DO.NOT.CARE. Shut it. Treating me like crap does not solve your problem; it only makes me not want to help you. Your iPod is not a backup. I don't give two craps about what you think it should be. It's not a backup, and no amount of b****ing will change that. Please, shut up. Shut up. Shut up. [/GENERIC RANT] Ahh, thanks. That was cathartic. Mr. Brightside, I like you. GENERIC RANT is not directed at you. Just re-sync from iTunes. You can sync to as many iPods as you want from iTunes; your music should still be there. A computer can have as many iPods synced to it as you want; each iPod, however, can only sync to one computer at a time. You don't need to sync from another iPod; just use your computer and save yourself a headache. [GENERIC RANT] No, I'm right about this, and you're wrong. I'm paid to be right about this stuff. [/GENERIC RANT]
im guessing that he does not have them stored on itunes or he wouldnt have started a thread entitled 'Ipod to Ipod transfer?' - give the guy some credit here! im sure there are a ton of free ones out there - i paid for mine, but it was like 5 years ago when i first bought an ipod. ive definitely gotten my $15 out of it though.
It's simple. You can easily transfer your purchased music from your iPod to your iTunes library, which generally should contain all of your purchased music anyway. You can then simply reload your ripped music from your CD collection to your new iPod as you did to your old iPod. Now if you are talking about music you took from other folks' computers, then that's just wrong.
i store all my music on my ipod and dont keep anything on itunes...not one single song...in 5 years of ipod ownership it has never caused a problem. over the years my friends and i have ripped songs off each others ipods using the program i have and its always been smooth sailing. to me, the whole point of the ipod is a storage drive for all my music. plus it frees up my computer for other stuff. brightside - this thread demonstrates once again that hata's will always try to trip up your smooth grove. they are just jealous b/c they cant live on the edge like us, with no back-up for all our music - its really not as complicated or as much as a headache as some might say - just get one of those programs and drag and drop. easy as taking candy from a baby.
it would take days and days of constant ripping to dump in 60 gigs worth of music! the programs out there allow you to do it in minutes.
Thanks for the advice guys. To clear some questions others have posted. I don't have any music stored on my Itunes. It is all stored on my external hard drive. I don't want to move music from my Ipod to my hard drive and then back to another Ipod. I just want to copy the whole Ipod to another new one I have. Swoly, I don't listen to all 60 GB's at one sitting, but I do have over 40,0000 scrobbles on my Last.FM account! Shout out to jo mama for getting my back. Not everyone can be part of the cool kids club like us.
Well, I've seen hardware that can do it, such as this: http://www.skymall.com/shopping/detail.htm?pid=102717358&c= But at $99, you'd better really want to skip that middle step.
Idump will do it free as well. But directly from one ipod to another? Pointless exercise in 'doing things the hard way'.
yell at your for what? not knowing how their ipod works? based on your previous post i thought you were disgruntled I.T. guy - do you work at best buy or something?
No, I mean I'm going to plug both Ipod's into my computer via USB drive. Then I want to use a software that would copy all the files from one Ipod to another.
