There's no reason, in a one-run game, Bagwell should not have pinch hit for any of the 3 batters in the 9th - Blum, Ausmus, or Vizcaino. Grr. I like Jimy, but this was a bad bad decision.
Yup. 3-2 in the 9th inning. Blum-Ausmus-Vizcaino-Lugo up. Bagwell was on-deck to pinch-hit for Lugo when the game ended. There wasn't a player problem either - Viz was playing 1st at the time so he could easily have just swapped out with Bagwell. Zaun was on the bench if you wanted to pinch hit for Ausmus. Viz could have moved to 3rd if you wanted to pinch hit Bagwell for Blum.
The last few days the Astros could've put Barry Bonds up there and we still wouldn't score runs. It's just plain frustrating.
can't blame anything on the pitching this time. It seems like when we get good pitching the hitters decide to stop hitting. When we get good hitting the pitchers decide to give up a couple of "touchdowns". Welcome to Astros Baseball
This is the same logic as "saving" our starting pitchers for Sept and Oct, when we are out of the race. Hello Jimy, we need to win today to see tommorow.
When are they gonna send Zinter down? Enough of this sentimental 'Crash Davis' bullsh*t and get a real hitter down here.
