In the summer league. Have you seen their starting 5? Practically the same they used last year during the regular season: SF: Trenton Hassell PF: Tyson Chandler C: Eddie Curry PG: Jamaal Crawford SG: Norman Richardson Except for Richardson, they all started quite a bit. Man, they are young. GB, do you know why Williams isn't playing?
Yeah but that will be there last taste of any success for awhile. I dont see them near the playoffs next year.
Williams probably isn't there because he hasn't signed a contract yet. Usually players don't play until they've signed.
Jay wasn't playing because of a slightly bruised hip. And I would change the text a bit...Chicago will go undefeated...in the regular season!
against who devestata, the Warriors? Chicago might be able to win a few games in the WNBA, maybe they should try it.........
The bulls are a better team, but they are still a bad team. They won't be at the bottom of the league any more, but they also will not make the playoffs next year. The future is fairly bright for Chicago, though. I can see the Rockets face the Bulls in the NBA Finals in 2006.
It is? Far as I can tell, they have exactly one successful NBA player on their squad. Jalen Rose. Trying to think of another... ... nope, there isn't one. Now they do have a couple of fantastic high school player... and one great college player. But that just means they have some guys who could pan out. Neither of the high school players did enough last year to sell me, despite getting plenty of minutes. Remember Kobe? Garnett? They both did better their first years, despite being on better teams. I'm not saying they won't be decent... but if they were going to be really special, I think they'd have shown more from the beginning. I would wager on Jay Williams succeeding. But how good? He could range anywhere from 16 and 8 to 25 and 10. Probably somewhere in the middle. No, the Bulls have taken some risks. And they may work out. But it's far, far, far too early for them to be getting the praise they have already.
Bryant hurt his team badly; he forced stupid one-on-one matchups, had no range on his shot, commited quite a few turnovers and overran plays on defense (which wasn't a problem, since the Fakers could still get a stop with Shaq if a player blew by him). Garnett (whom I didn't see play) led his team to... 26 wins. If the Chicago rookies got the possessions that those players did, they would've put up similar numbers... and the Bulls would have suffered at least three fifty-point losses. They are currently one of the two worst two teams in the league, until I have reason to believe otherwise.
It's not a question of whether they carried teams at 18. It's a matter of scoring more points on better teams. Bryant was on a very good team. He still managed to perform better than two guys on a terrible team. And as bad as the T'Wolves were... they were still better than last year's Bulls. Eh? False. On bad teams, rookies almost always get more time, etc. Chandler averaged 19.6 minutes. He played in 71 games and started 31. Curry played in 72 games and started 31, averaging 16 minutes. Bryant averaged almost as many minutes on a winning team. For comparison, Jermaine O'Neal also came up on a winning team, and couldn't crack the line-up... Garnett got 26 minutes per game, and averaged a respectable 10 and 6. The one thing that does impress me about curry and chandler is there FG%'s. Could be a good sign. I just don't have any faith in rookies that can't get much time on a team that wants nothing more than to develop them and get high draft picks. They are currently one of the two worst two teams in the league, until I have reason to believe otherwise.
Bulls are 1-1. They lost to Phoenix. That's pretty sad that they lose with 3 of 5 of their regular season starters for 2002-2003 on their summer league. Eddy Curry did well with 18 points. J-Will got 11 pts and 2 assists. Bulls will still be the second worst team in the league this year again. (Cavaliers are the worst.)
