The Dutch cartoonist got attacked by a Somali Axe Man with close ties to al-Shabab and al-Qaida leaders in eastern Africa.

Disgraceful. It's good police didn't kill the intruder and grant him "martyrdom". Maybe they can interrogate the guy and get some useful information.

The Arab world is so backwards, so in over their heads, they inevitably sully the only instrument impervious to censorship: their religion. It's not Islam that causes these extremist views, but it has proved a perfect vehicle to export their domestic frustrations/shortcomings and project the blame out of the Western world. Say what you will about the specifics of different faiths, Confucians, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, et al., are smart enough to immediately distance themselves from the radicals who try claim their faith (albeit such violent extremism is infrequent at best in other faiths). Moderate Islam has failed to do the same.

Muslims need to claim back their religion, and the way to do this is to "Westernize". Denounce clerical regimes that have done little to help the average worker, rise above outdated, dogmatic, sexist traditions, and dissuade the outright antipathy for the west. It's your own religion, and your own regimes that are holding you back. Not the west.

    From the article:
[rquoter]An umbrella organization for moderate Muslims in Denmark condemned the attack.

"The Danish Muslim Union strongly distances itself from the attack and any kind of extremism that leads to such acts," the group said in a statement.

You mind providing me some type of source as to why you would state such an "absolutely ridiculous" statement as fact?

A small percentage of the Muslim population participates in these "thug tactics" and even those people are considered radicals by the majority of Muslims.

You non stop Islam bashing really needs to stop. You sound as dumb as Basso with some of your comments towards Islam. Pathetic...

Of course, someone will be quick to point out that this has nothing to do with Islam and the intolerant ways in which it is practiced in many places nowadays...

You honestly think that in the Muslim run theocracies if people had a freedom of choice they would all choose to follow Islam?

Or, are people doing it because well, they don't want to be outcasts in such places like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Please don't tell me that those Theocracies are not bullying their people into their religion.

I don't particularly like any religion, but radical Islam is where most of the world's terrorists are coming from, and tons of countries that oppress their populace through forced beliefs are a major problem...so.......I think it is related.

I mean it is a problem when people make cartoons about Muhammed and folks kill people over that.....that is just barbaric, and smacks of intolerance....

Why are they pathetic? Your DD Rockets Talk shows are pathetic too, but since you don't care for reasoning behind these type of strong assertions, so we'll just leave it at that.
If that's why you believe Islam is growing, then you really ignorant and sadly misinformed.

No, I think in the US, it is fine, but I am mostly speaking about oppressed theocracies where Islam is crammed down their populaces throat, whether they like it or not.

And then spills over into civilized countries like where this attack happened....a guy tried to kill someone for making a cartoon....absolutely ridiculous....

Don't worry though, I think all religions are mythos...it is just that some aren't a breeding ground for world terror...while Islam is.....at least lately.

I think the Jews and Zoroastrians in Iran would disagree with you here. In fact, the Constitution of Iran holds that Jews are as equals with Muslims and are entitled to self-administration.

But knowing your ignorant stances, you will still believe that Ahmedinejad is coercing Jews in Iran to convert. Your agenda is pathetic DD, almost as pathetic as your Rockets Talk show.

In what way was that even a cartoon? A picture of the founder of second largest religion in the world with a bomb on his head... That is a hate message meant to incite and provoke under the guise of freedom of expression. They use freedom of expression to defend there statements, a fallacious form of arguing. However, we all know you love to indulge yourself by posting fallacies after fallacies.

How many wealthy Jews are there in Iran? How many Iranian Jews in the military, or government, much less the IRGC? How many of the choice IRGC government contracts that cover most of the economy go to Jews? If you are an Iranian Jew and you wish to be relevant beyond your own little Ghettoized community, you convert.

I am really not bothered by your attempt at saying my show is pathetic...fine.....your opinion.

As for religion......suffice it to say that I am not on board that train and do not follow anything that I believe is made up by man to control the masses, and always to suit a political agenda.

I don't mean to offend, I really don't if you follow Islam and are peaceful and have come to that conclusion of your own free will....great.......

But one must acknowledge that the majority of terrorists in this world today are from the Islamic extremism side of the religious equation.

It seems that Islam is going through it's own dark ages right now....just as some other religions went through theirs about 500 years ago.

Since Islam is only about 1350 years old...maybe that is the issue.

I did not say it wasn't insulting, but in free societies, it is not something you kill people over.

And while you may be insulted others may find it hilarious......and both have the same right to their beliefs and a right to life.

Just because you value Mohammed, does not mean everyone shares that view....

And people should not fear making a cartoon of Mohammed just because it will offend some people.....

If you are offended, it is fairly simple, just ignore it......

So you think the guy who created that "hate message" deserves to be killed?

Plenty of wealthy Jews in Iran. Yousef Cohen is the first that comes to mind. It's not like money is an incentive for them, like Israeli Jews:

Iranian Jews are conscripted to join the military just like Iranian Muslims and Iranian Zoroastrians. This is unlike in Israel, where Israeli Arabs are not conscripted into the military.
