Unless they're throwing in a couple unprotected first round picks, they can keep Igoudoula. He's not the so called "missing piece" we need for a serious run at a title next season.

You get rep from me. Good post.

The Rockets have the upper hand in any negotiation. We don't even need to make a move. So why dump cheap young talented players in this deal on our part at all. I wouldn't mind moving Leunen or Newley (their rights) to sweeten any deal but core players should be off limits.

I don't think Morey operates like that.

If anything, we have learned that Morey assigns a value to a player and will not go over that value. There for the Mavs, Spurs or anyone else can over pay all they want and Morey will not move off of what he thinks that players value truly is.

This IMO is the reason you see the quote that the Rockets need to be bowled over with young talent in order to take Iggy since Morey see's him as being over paid. I don't think Morey would just take Iggy due to his salary just like Morey would not offer Gortat the full MLE earlier in the summer. If the Sixers want TMac's expiring contract then they are going to have to play Morey's game or they can just deal with some other team.

Agreed on both counts. That is why I just don't see a deal getting done with Philly. That is, unless Sacramento is willing to take Dalembert's contract in exchange for Kenny Thomas in a 3-way deal (with the Rockets getting Thomas's expiring contract). And no, they would not then flip Thomas's deal. They'd just let it expire so that they could use the money to re-sign Scola and Lowry.

There are 240 mpg to be divided. Playing more than 8 guys rarely works (+ maybe 2 more for very limited minutes) therefore you want to have significant talent not just good talent making up the rotation. I am a big Air Bud guy but I would 'sacrifice' him in the right deal, for example.

    MORE NEWS....

According to a team source, the Sixers may be working out a deal with the Houston Rockets that could finally rid the team of Andre Iguodala’s talent and still take on Tracy McGrady’s bloated contract at the same time.

Sixers GM Ed Stefanski would not confirm that a deal is forthcoming, but he did classify such a trade scenario as a “win-win” for the city of Philadelphia.

“Iggy’s talent is a burden to any team trying to lose games and rebuild, which we’ve obviously been trying to do, unsuccessfully, for some time now,” Stefanski said on Friday. “If we could dump him on the Rockets and get our hands on that fat, expiring contract of McGrady’s, this team could really do some things.”

The potential trade would give the Sixers the flexibility they need to completely suck ass this year and compete for a decent draft pick and have the necessary cap room at the end of the year to sign free agents.

No doubt, I can't believe anyone would believe an NBA GM would say that stuff.

I've been saying this since the rumor first came up. If they really want to rebuild then an expiring contract like this is enough to get rid of Iggy. They lose more games, get an early pick and can use their cap space to add more young talent.

Don't be surprised if they go to Iggy and tell him they are going to rebuild and put it to him. Doe she want to struggle with a poor team while they re build, ro would he like to be moved to a contending team.

And if Iggy was smart, he would come to the Rockets. ;)

The more you hear, the more it sounds like something WILL get done before the dealine. The Sixers & Rockets complement each other well in a trade as far as what both teams are looking for. Iggy must be in whatever deal is made though. Without him not a chance.
