Just going down any major street in H-Town, especially on the weekends, you'll run across these fixed-up cars(usually Japanese models). Are they in the way, do they drive wrecklessly, etc., etc. Some used to gather on Westheimer(in the Big K-Mart parking lot) but I'm not sure anymore(lots of nice cars the last time I was there). Anyways, just wondering how you all felt about them?

personally, i think they look stupid... if you have an extra $20K to "soup up" a freakin' civic or integra, than why don't you actually buy a nicer car, like a BMW? i laugh when i see these cars on the street.

Have you seen the ones with the "spoilers" that look like wings bolted on the trunk? Is that supposed to make you go faster?

Some people would rather modify a car than buy one as-is. I'd never do it, but it's understandable to me. You get to dictate what add-ons go into the car. What filter, what exhaust, what onboard computer, what rims, what tires, etc. you put on is your choice. It's a hobby like anything else. I mean why do people collect and value sports cards and comic books? Why do people pay to watch other people play basketball? Why on earth would you root for a losing team like the Rockets when you could be cheering a winning team in the Lakers? Just because you or I don't understand or appreciate something doesn't mean someone else can't get enjoyment out of it. I, for example, can't understand the affinity people have for golf. But I'm not gonna knock 'em... :)

    Personally, I like import cars.

But man, I hate the drivers.

    Idiots.
    It gives "them" bad names.

I was coming home from work and there was a Celica trying to pass people up, and it kept revving their engine to intimadate the person infront to move or hurry up. I was an *******, and sped up a bit, and tried to trap that guy inbetween the cars so he couldn't go. I do that with everybody regardless of cars.

I do favor imports than domestic. Yes, I am bias.

I like Celicas, and Civics, and crap like that.

Also man, I understand why people don't like Civics and Integras. I think it's because the homogenous of them all. They all look the same. Same bodykit, same noise making coffee can, same airplane space flight wing. You gotta say the same thing about domestics. Clear "altezza style" lights look r****ded on Mustangs though, for reals.

Maybe that's the real issue here. It may not be the cars themselves but the "type" of drivers behind the wheels. BTW/ I have similar stories driving 'round H-Town. Very annoying to say the least.....:(

I saw a RX-7 go WEEE (flip end over end) which shows the need for those silly wings

only if you're aiming for 150+ mph plus
something that shouldn't be considered on the street... well unless you live in Montana

I'm trying something a little different here...how about a Camaro all riced out? ;-)

Actually, I'm trying to do it a lot more tastefully than some of the people that drive their San Francisco Treat cars around with the UFO wing on the back end of their lime green and orange Civics. I admit that I like the way "Euro" style tail lights look (have some on my Camaro) and the way that neon underbody kits look ( just spent like 5 hours tonight trying to rig a kit on the bottom of my car), but some people take it a little too far.

The thing that I don't like about a lot of people who drive the rice burners is the fact that they think the more stickers they put on their car the faster it will go.

One time I saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse hard top with a "SPIDER" sticker on the back end of it. The "Spider" Eclipse is simply a convertible. Not a bigger engine, not a racing package, JUST A CONVERTIBLE. But this guy with a hard top wants to mislabel his car as a freakin' convertible because he's gone crazy and put every sticker model possible on his car.

Possibly the most annoying thing about some ricers is the fact that when you ask them why they have 2304823084 stickers on their car that falsely identify the model the actually drive is that they "want to be different than everyone else" when in reality their car looks almost exactly like every other persons.

In the end, if you want to buy any car and try to customize it, thats fine, just try to be tasteful and unique.

i have no problems with the cars...

i do have a problem with the fact these are 16-18 year old kids driving their cars like maniacs on public streets putting the rest of our lives at risk so they can pretend they're neat race car drivers!

sorry for the rant...but i find it to be quite disrespectful of human life, something i value pretty heavily. don't mean to be a party pooper.

if you saw this accident in Houston, and it was a silver RX-7, then I know who you're talking about! I have a friend who was doing 130+ and flipped his RX-7...

he ended up walking away w/o a scratch and bought another RX-7...

I've seen a Mustang riced out. Big NASA wing, clear lights, stickers here and there, and a ground body kit, and the ever popular coffee can.
