Iguodala - very athletic and would fit fast paced system better, can play the 2 better, less injury prone, but overall worst contract

Butler - solid overall game but natural 3, injured a lot, better contract, Wiz has better players that can be traded along with him (blatche, miller, mcgee)

    hrmm...

btw who is the better overall playmaker? That's what we need with Brooks as primarily a shooter and Ariza a spot up shooter.

Bima, would you really want Butler over Iggy at this point when we really need a two? He is younger, healthier fits our needs better and is more productive at this point than Butler

get real. Morey won't be entertained by a 30 year old player and lot of contract baggage.

Iggy is the better playmaker of the two. Better at putting it on the floor as well. Check the stats if one hasn't seen the two play.

So you like Iguodala's package? :)

To be serious, I agree Iguodala is better considering talent, contract, age, etc. However, all of these things are mere speculations now, no guarantee if either of these would happen.

I would consider getting Butler a decent fallback option, given that he can still play and his contract is for just another year at $9 million ( you can always trade the Butler expiring K in Feb. 2011). However given the eagerness of Washington to dump salary, I'd like something more in return in terms of young talent. The high pick will be hard to get, but it's not like Washington didn't just trade #5 to Minny last season. They'll probably ask something more in return if they are giving up that pick.

Iggy is. Look at his career averages. He can average like 5 assists per game.

Cutler?? It would be nice to get a pro bowler in Cutler for an allstar in McGrady.

People are acting as if we have both players on the table and we just have to choose.

If the Wizards are offering Butler, but we have to convince Philly to add Iggy to a deal with Dalembert or Brand, then maybe we take a 2 year contract of Butler.

Getting Butler seems like a more likely possibility at this point.

Everyone is saying Iggy is better... yes he is

BUT the Sixers have no expiring deals to offer with Iggy (Kapono has a player option for next year)..

the Wizards have alot of expiring deals that they can package with Butler.. the Rockets are looking to take back expiring deals in return.. and still have to resign Scola and Lowry in the offseason

Not really. McGrady for Miller and Butler works. That would be fantastic.

Agreed on the "pros" for Iguodala, but here are some of the "cons":

--AI is signed through 2014 ($12.2M this season; $12.3M in 2010-11; $13.5M in 2011-12; $14.7M in 2012-13; and $15.9M in 2013-14, that last year being an ETO but AI must assuredly won't opt out of that money). Compare to that to Caron Butler ($9.8M this season; $10.5M as an expiring contract in 2010-11).

--Iguodala seems to need the ball in his hands in order to be effective, whereas Butler is more capable of fitting into the flow of a ball-sharing offense like Adelman's.

--Aside from the sheer salary numbers, Caron's expiring contract next season could still become a valuable trade asset if he doesn't work out as well as Morey would have hoped. If AI doesn't work out, the Rockets are screwed.

Agreed that he's a decent fallback option. Personally, i'm just not a fan of Butler but he definitely could help us. I just think people are overlooking his deficiencies (i.e. having 'Trevor Ariza Syndrome' -- "I know I can't dribble but i'll do it anyways", very turnover prone, not a motivated defender, durability issues, etc).

But yeah, the Wizards have pretty much tipped their cap that there's an impending implosion about to happen. We could always do them a "favor" by taking one of their bad contracts (along with some young talent), see if Butler can function in Adelman's offense and go from there. If it works, great. If it doesn't, you have a $10.5M expiring contract to play with next year.

I'm still holding out hope for Iguodala and his package, though. ;)

    (haha....so wrong)
