    Side note:

I do not think that Iggy is the answer to everything we need; however I think that to acquire a player like that is not going to be through a T-Mac deal. CP3 is the only player that is attainable through NO's financial situation and the lack of wins.

Kyle Brooks is a superstar PG. No need to upgrade the 1...

The SG spot is the upgrade we need. Iggy is PERFECT for this system...

If they could pull off a deal for Iggy and the Speights kid, plus some poison pill contract, I would seriously consider doing it. Trading T-Mac is probably going to go down to the last few hours of the trade deadline.

The Rockets can take their time and evaluate their options however I believe Tmac and his agent would be in a hurry since Tmac would want to show that He can still play and showcase his " ability" for the next contract. Any deal should not touch the top eight or nine players Adelman uses and instead just use Tmac's contract and the rest of the bench. The team's chemistry is great and by trading a valuable piece like Lowry or Scola would destroy the chemistry that has proven its worth so far.

Hell the **** no. That's too much. Take those contracts from Philly and you save them more than $100,000,000 dollars. That's consolation prize enough without giving them Lowry, let alone Landry.

I'd love to have Iggy, but I don't want a deal that moves any of our core players. I think we could work a deal with Philly to get Iggy and a bad contract for TMac and some throw-ins.

Uh . . . so does Philly. They're not trading Young.

My guess is that, in Philly's eyes, they would rank their own assets in the following order (keeping in mind both basketball AND economic concerns):

    (1) Thaddeaus Young
    (2) Their 2010 first round pick
    (3) Mareese Speights
    (4) Louis Williams
    (5) Andre Iguodala
    (6) Jrue Holiday

After that, it's a bunch of mediocre players on so-so deals, then the guys they overpaid/traded for who are under contract beyond this season and that Philly would need to bribe another team to take from them:

    Willie Green
    Jason Kapono (PO)
    Samuel Dalembert
    Elton Brand

In all my 28 years of being interested in the Rockets, this is the first time that the Houston Rocket's Management has it's head on the right way.
I am so glad we are no longer in a 'WIN NOW' mode, I never liked it and we never won anything during this period!! Now possibly Morey (General Manager) is building a Championship Contender! :p

I forgot who said this, maybe it was bill simmons, but fans really do know more about the players on their own team then the rest of the country and even the national sports media knows about them. I think most people in Philly have known all along that Iguodala isn't that great and I think everyone knew that Dalembert's contract was insane before anyone else really caught on. I'm not a sixer fan, but I watch most of their games. Iguodala is okay. He's be a good 2nd option and hopefully he'd be a third option for a contender. He is decent in most areas. Decent passer, streaky shooter, average ballhandler.... he is a athletic freak though. I think his stats are just inflated due to being on a ****ty team. He's the type of player that thinks he's a superstar but he'll never really be one. He's a good player but nothing special.

I really believe Iguodala would be the perfect fit on this team at the 2 spot. Iggy is very unselfish, playmaking abilities, good handles, nice defender and has go to ability at the end of the game. What is not to like at 25 yrs old? I really hope we make this deal if it's on the table. I'm sure most have seen him play but check out his top 10 from last season on youtube. Sorry I don't have the link

    Trading Iguodala ...

So what's it going to take to get the Houston Rockets' Tracy McGrady and his $23 million expiring contract?

It's going to take a deal involving, as its main piece, 76ers swingman Andre Iguodala.

According to a source close to the situation, the Houston Rockets have said they would only consider shipping McGrady to Philly if the Sixers "knocked the Rockets over" with the amount of talent they included in the deal.

This source said the Rockets have made it clear they will not -- in any way -- consider trading McGrady to the Sixers for power forward Elton Brand ($14-15 million this year, 3 years left after this one) and center Samuel Dalembert ($12 million, one year left after this one). According to this source, the Sixers are trying very hard to unload Dalembert (not a surprise) and Brand (not a huge surprise, either).

The problem is not many NBA teams are willing to take on money right now. This source named only three NBA teams possibly willing (Houston, Dallas, and Cleveland).

According to this source, the Rockets have expressed interest in a deal involving Iguodala, but he must be paired with better, younger talent than Dalembert. (Read: a deal involving possibly Lou Williams, Thaddeus Young, Marreese Speights, etc.).

Again, the Rockets are willing to take on money, but it'd have to be a special package and a 3rd team might even need to be involved. This source said this would be the kind of deal where both teams needed approval from ownership because of the amount of money and players involved.

The source also said that the Rockets and Sixers have not talked in "more than a week", making a deal unlikely, but said any deal involving Iguodala "has a chance."

So there's the latest on the NBA's most talked about trading chip: Tracy McGrady.

The problem with the Sixers making a deal involving Iguodala and young talent is that they'd be getting rid of some good young guys and remain with Brand and Dalembert, which is sort of the opposite of the point of making such a trade.

Iguodala plays 40 mpg to get his 19 points. Play him reasonable minutes, say, 32 mpg, and then he nets, what? About 16 ppg? (All hypothetical.)

Unless you told him to "shoot away", but Adelman already instructed Ariza to do the same.

Ah, well, Iggy'd be great on the Rockets, although I wouldn't be stunned if such a deal flipped Iggy for expirings and the rights to Rubio or Minny's 2010 1st rounder pick.

More likely we'd just keep Iggy, but Dalembert (Elton Brand = hell no) would need to be flipped for expirings. Unless you found a side deal for Luis, fearing you couldn't re-sign him in the offseason anyway.

I also agree that we are going to have to take back an expiring contract in any T-Mac deal, possibly from a third team, how about this:

    Houston acquires:
    A. Iguodala
    T. Young
    A. Randolph
    S. Claxton

    Philly acquires:
    T-Mac
    K. Azubuike
    B. Wright

    Golden State acquires:
    S. Dalembert
    C. Landry

    Why Houston does it:
We get the influx of young talent (and an all-star caliber player) that Morey wants plus an additional expiring contract in Claxton. That would give us nearly $11 million coming off the books this summer to extend Scola, Lowry, and/or Brooks.

    Why Philly does it:
They now become major players in the 2010 FA market with an incoming $26 million in expiring contracts plus unload 1 of their 2 bad contracts in Dalembert. Brandon Wright is also included to help pick up some of the athleticism they lost to us in the deal.

    Why Golden State does it:
They completely revamp their front court, giving toughness and a shot-blocking, inside presence to a team completely made out of slashers and jump shooters.

    Thoughts?

So does Philly...what? You didn't really make sense, quoting my comment.

All I said was that I would rather have Young than Iggy, but since Young isn't a possibility, Iggy is a great consolation prize.

How is Jrue's production this year?

    Could we do:

    TMac
    Lowry

    for

    Iggy
    Jrue
    Bad contract?

IMHO Tellum will try to effect a deal 'guaranteeing' a re-sign.

If you were Lebron or Wade, would you go to Philadelphia, or stay in Cleveland/Miami?

Even if James and Wade decided to stay in their respective teams, those two teams are better suited at competing for a 'ship than Philly will be.
