Yeah he was mad but The previous play Terry drove to the whole got knocked to the ground and didn't get a call. So why did Brooks think he would get a call when he drove to the basket while we were winning the game is beyond me.

What about Dirk shoving Battier out of bounds with his forearm?

Or the other drive by Terry where Battier didn't foul him that did get called?

Add in whoever it was that completely took out Brooks left arm and you've got 3 completely blown calls in the closing minutes that went against us to only one against the Mavs.

Just sayin'... the Mavs already had their make up call(s).

Bad decision or not by Brooks, he should've been at the line. Adelman gave props to Brooks for that play after the game despite criticizing him in other instances.

And did anybody see Nick Collison get to the line in the OKC game?

I couldn't even see the foul and it was on a loose ball after a missed shot.

Collison made the FTs and OKC won. It's not just superstars that get calls in the closing seconds. Brooks, himself, got a whistle against Golden State.

I'm not saying Dallas got screwed.

What I'm saying is Brooks should not have expected a foul to be called in that situation when Terry just got clobbered on the previous possession. At that point I thought it was pretty obvious they were just going to let them play. As soon as he went to the hole I knew it would not turn out good unless he made some type of crazy shot.

Fair enough. Agree to disagree, bro.

    What's done is done.

I assume Brooks figured he could score once he got that open lane. He's not Lowry-like in terms of looking for contact. He usually tries to avoid the contact to score.

More often than not, Brooks has made a poor decision when taking it to the basket late in games but I thought he had plenty of space last night and I also thought they should've blown the whistle. Even if they missed the one on Terry, they still owed us one if you want to use that logic.

I don't blame him for being mad though I'm just saying I knew the refs wouldn't blow the whistle.

    Agree to disagree though

    Happy New Years bruh

You could argue that the Terry no-call was a makeup for the phantom foul that was called on Shane a trip or two previous where they got 2 FTs off pretty much a clean block. Think it was with a minute or so left.

Or, you could argue that it was because of the missed call on Battier where Dirk pushed him out of bounds.

Either way, the Terry play put the equilibrium back in order so Brooks' foul should have most certainly been called.

I might also add that the Terry foul wasnt as obvious to me from the angle of the TV(Granted the refs have different angles) but the Brooks one sure was. I didnt even know he got fouled til the announcers said it happened on the other end after the Brooks play.

Edit: It wasn't mostly ball with a bit of arm/hand. It wasn't with the body and disguised/hidden. It was arm coming down on an arm extended. There was little to no ball contact. It was plain as day. No matter what time of game it came on it was an Eggregious no-call. Aaron most certainly had a right to be ticked off.

i dont think it's a big deal, the play hadnt been too long ago at that point so its i'd expect him to sill be pissed off...what i find more interesting is that lately he's talking more and being more emotional, throwing up his hands, staring down guys, things like that. Seems like his confidence is the highest it's ever been.

It wasn't just those two plays. The ENTIRE fourth quarter, the referees just completely swallowed their whistles and stopped calling blatant fouls. There were several occasions I was just amazed. David Andersen got hacked on two occasions, no call. Landry got hacked quite a few times ... one time he got hacked so violently the ball somehow made its way back into the hands of Aaron Brooks who happily buried another three pointer. Battier getting shoved into the front row. Lowry ... everybody was getting mugged. You wonder why the Rockets weren't making their shots early in the quarter? That's why. To me they showed a lot of composure staying focused despite the bad officiating and eventually starting to make their shots when it mattered.

If I had to take a guess I would think its the lack of respect from the officials towards Brooks. There has been three seperate times this season Brooks has gone in for a game winning drive, been obviously hacked, and no call.

My read was that Brooks was still mad about the call and didn't want to get caught by a reporter before he cooled off.

I also was impressed with Shane's control. He was seriously pissed about getting knocked out of bounds. He was able to just switch it off. You could just see him telling himself to let it go.

I may be wrong, but I feel pretty strongly that the refs must have been instructed to give Dallas all of the benefit of the doubt when making calls.

Mark Cuban is enormously wealthy and surely has a lot of clout, and the Mavericks sell a lot of NBA related gear (ie make money for the NBA), so it's not suprising this was done, if it is true.

It's miserable for the fans though. Missed calls are to be expected, as the refs are only human, but the amount, timing and blatancy of the calls missed in the fourth quarter alone would almost overwhelmingly seem as if the refs were indeed trying to give the Mavericks the game on a silver platter.

(sidenote: bet no one seriously thought the Rockets would defeat the Mavs or for the game to get that close early on and stay that way. If there were a smirking smiley, I'd post it right here)

All in all the Rockets played a heck of a game and kept there cool whern needed!
It was a very good defensive game by both teams, I just hope they can adjust to the zone defense faster and better next time.

Sure, they're human, and everyone makes mistakes. But there were THREE humans all doing the same job. If one ref didn't see it, cool. But all three didn't "see" anything.

Refs practically handed the Mavs the game. Thank goodness Kidd isn't known for his 3pt shooting, if you get my drift.
