OH, so you're that ONE fan who, unlike all the other Tracy fans who just worship him as a basketball player, secretly wishes you'd been molested by him as a 13 year old? Some general qualities I noticed about McGrady fans over the years: they DO NOT care about McGrady's volume shooting even on nights he's cold. They almost NEVER talk about his field goal percentage when they rave about his 20+ point games. Even less do they realize that a bad FG% not only hurts your own stats, but it takes shots away from your teammates.
yes, he's not from the 6 games of 7-8 minutes we saw. but if you're judging how he plays later on from that 6 games, then that's you. and yes, it was never going to work this year. this resolution should have been the case before the season started.
I think that if they could have gotten a deal that appealed to them before the season started then they would have... IMO. However, like the current situation, they basically had to wait and see who would be willing to aquire him. I am sure come Feb 18 that there are going to be a few teams who find his contract more appealing than they would have before the season began. Not to mention the fact that atleast they have seen him run the floor and get a few buckets. We actually have more leverage closer to the trade deadline and there are teams who are interested now/will be who wouldn't have been at the beginning of the season based on this season.
That was not the same offense it was Tmac centric, so of course he knew where to get his shots... And, now, he couldn't even run that offense. Seriously, you Tmac- groupies need to face the music, the dude is just NOT THE SAME PLAYER...... He may get there some day, but it will not be at the expense of wins and losses here in Houston, and honestly, the odds are stacked heavily against it. I know you all pine for the days of when he was an elite athlete, and quicker than most everyone on the foor.....heck, I pine for the days of Hakeem, but I am also smart enough to know when they are over. DD
It's unfortunate his string of playing time was during a series of back to back games. I personally feel his game against the Clippers was more indicative of the potential production we could've gotten out of him. Instead, the Rockets decided to pull the plug. Everyone wants to talk about his bad defense. It would've obviously improved as he gained his stamina and the schedule got easier. If I recall, he completely stuffed Nowitzky, something no one else on the roster is even capable of. He also played good D on Carmelo on some possessions. That was impressive for someone coming back from that surgery.
i think tracy's team will push for a trade/buyout sooner than that so he can play. for tracy to have a chance of getting back of his game, he needs minutes and real NBA games. working out with grover is not going to help him regain his confidence/rhythm/consistency. if it doesn't happen within a week after new year's, look for tracy's team to be ultra aggressive with us, and finding a solution that will have tracy either traded or bought out. he's not going to sit for 2+ months.
I don't think he is washed up and believe he can still be productive and even dominant in short spurts. But having said that the reality is that he has many miles on him and is injury prone. Also I would say that over the years he has becoming inconsistent. You never would know if the skywalker or the sleepwalker would show up to play. If we were just one player away from contending for the championship I would say keep him but that is not the case. It makes sense from a management point of view to trade him now if we can get some young contributing players and/or draft picks (given Morey's track record) we should be in good stead for the next few years.
There has only been one or two people that have yet to accept Tracy is being moved. So I think it is bull**** you talk as if the forum is being flooded with 'groupies'. It is stupid to make a judgment of what Tracy will be a year or more from now. Whether that judgment be positive or negative.
Give it a rest, McGrady is gone from the Rockets for good and that's that. Enjoy your New Year's eve party and quit dreaming. For your comfort, McGrady never led a team past the first round in his more than 11 years in the NBA so the Rockets are just fine without him. Remember last year when the Rockets took the eventual champion Lakers to the max in the second round of the playoffs? That was without McGrady. So all the "ifs" about him have already been answered through all those years, for over a decade mind you. Happy New Year and let's cheer on the Rockets.
Agree with the op, cause Rockets will be missing that one piece that will keep them from being contenders, and thats a wing player capable of taking over games or making plays when yao is fronted and brooks is being trap by seven footers turning the ball over. IMO rockets will still be a good team may even get out the first round but no way are we title contenders with out a player as good as t-mac, will be stuck in the middle of the pack like mavericks, phoenix, and hornets same teams that lack a great wing player but have good pgs' and pf's c's.
I would only want to keep T-Mac if I was sure that he would get the explosiveness that he used to have, because without it, opposing defenses wouldn't see the need to double team him all the time. When Coach RA played him, the only additional minutes that he could have given to T-Mac IMO were late-in-game situations when he was needed to be out there to jack up threes. T-Mac's next pro basketball contract should be in Europe IMO so that he can play a much lighter schedule than the NBA's. I think that same would apply to Yao as well once his current NBA contract expires, whether it is with the Rockets or another team.
Yeah, the explosiveness definitely wasn’t there. He didn’t get to the basket like he used to, he didn’t have that first step where he could blow by people. And defensively he was struggling with that a little bit but that’s to be expected. We all expected that. I’ve seen that before from players who have had that surgery so it wasn’t unexpected to me. But we don’t know what timetable he has or if it’s going to come back. - Rick Adelman http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/rockets_use_fantastic_finishin_2009_12_30.html
Funny coming from the guy who just contributed nothing to THIS public forum in your last message. What a waste of a post.
May I be added to your list. I don't like him cause he's a lazy bum that quit on his team multiple times and in multiple cities. We should have never given up Francis and Mobley for him.
You're a brave man, bro. I'm glad the McGrady melodrama is winding down and will be surprised if he comes back to near what he was, but respect your opinion, as always. Have a great New Year!
