Does Tracy McGrady have enough gas left in the tank to stuff some box scores and put up few more passable season stat lines if given the opportunity? I think so. We're trying to win the championship though, and I highly doubt McGrady can be an important part of any contending team, here or elsewhere. This season is about the Rockets' future, and he is simply not part of it. Wasting the development time of our young studs to let an aging allstar audition for a contract does not help the team in any way. And that's all he'd be doing this season, as I doubt the Rockets would spend to resign McGrady even if he came back like T-Mac of old. The gameplan has changed, and this machine has no room for selfish components like Tracy McGrady.
no. adelman made it clear he doesn't know whether tmac can or cannot return to his old or anywhere to his old level of play and he does not have the time to know when or whether it will happen. the point is the team right now doesn't have the talent or time to facilitate tmac so he can show whether he can regain his old form or not. he said that clearly in his interview. for a player coming back from microfracture, tmac is looking extremely good 9-10 months out being able to have no pain and run like he has. to regain the rhyth/confidence/consistency, you need games to determine whether that player can return to his old level of play.
I wish T-Mac well and hope he succeeds in whatever team he plays for next. It is rather unfortunate the amount of hate shown for someone who used to be one of the top 5-10 basketball players in the world on this message board.
Wow, another T-Mac fan who thinks his opinion is so much more important than the previous T-Mac fans who offered their opinion on why the Rockets screwed up. WTB dedicated "T-Mac was robbed" thread.
The list has nothing to do with how wise they are, how smart they are, how dumb they are or anything other than my view that they are a hater. People who made posts asking to be in the list, were not put in it purposely.
apparently 7-8 minutes may not be enough to say he's back, but apparently it's enough to say he's done when he's coming back from an injury... no one else realize how hypocritical that is?
Only 5 and 7 are accurate. TMac is not the TMac of old and never will be again. I he could still do all you say then he would have produced more in his limited time.
and still could not sniff the second round think it happened to kobe once. . . . 3 yrs. . .you are the BEST IN THE LEAGUE and you could not get out of the 1st round? 0-3? Rocket River
I think any rational person can see that he is not the player that he once was. Most guys (even your Rec-League All Stars) don't come back the same player or better when they are coming back from a major injury. At times there are exceptions to the rule (Amar'e Stoudamire) but that is rarely the case. Personally, I think that many of us, whether we are younger in age or just a tad bit older, may have been expecting too much from T-Mac in his comeback. It was unrealistic to expect him to come back and be in his form from 2 or 3 years ago. It was unrealistic to expect him to comeback & play huge minutes. As a T-Mac fan, my hope was that he would comeback healthy enough to contribute in about 15 minutes off the bench against another team's second unit. Felt that he would help solidify our bench and if it ever came to it that he got all the way back, then it would be up to the coaching staff how to integrate him more, although I did't EXPECT him to be anywhere near all the way back until next season. His demeanor, for whatever reason, didn't seem conducive to that type of role. I, like many of you, could try to rationalize the reason why his demeanor didn't seem conducive, but at this point, that's redundant. I have never been opposed to the team trading him if it was going to be in their best interest to improve the team and maybe give T-Mac what he may not be able to achieve here. I think the achievement could have taken place here, but it was not to be (at least at this point). From all parties involved, I believe that there are some things that we will never know about that maybe could have AND should have been handled differently behind the scenes. I wish T_Mac the best in whatever his future holds and I wish the Rockets organization the best. But let's be rational in our opinions about this situation & the individuals involved.
lol hte haters make me laugh so hard , blah blah hes not the player he once was, are you guys effin stupid ? how the hell do you know hes not a player he once was without seeing him in extended minutes. Haters going keep hating.
it's a sad situation for the team. this is not the ending the team had in mind when mcgrady was introduced, for sure. most of the fault falls onto his shoulders, though (not that it is very much meaningful).
amare went scoreless in 3 of his first 6 games back in his SECOND RETURN. so no, tmac won't be tmac unless he plays a lot in around a month or so then we can all judge. you can only judge whether his knee is a-ok or not in the stint that he had and there was no physical setback.
Of course McGrady is not the player he used to be, but I think he will come back from all of this and still be a very good asset to whichever team bets on him. I wish we could get past all of this, give him more minutes and see what he has. He knows that he's not going to get anywhere near the $23mil he's at now, but at a reasonable salary, how can you not want him. Who on the Rockets is sufficiently better? I know he has lost some of his hops and isn't the best defender, but as stated, he can get to the basket almost anytime he wants, he is a hell of a passer, great court awareness, IQ, and a decent shooter and rebounder. If I listed these qualities without saying I was talking about TMac, would you be interested in a player like this? I think emotion is taking over for many people, rather than reason. TMac is no sure thing to make a strong comeback, but may be worth the gamble. I'd certainly rather keep him than make a mediocre trade for players like Salmons.
we still do not know whether tracy can return from this surgery or not. whoever can lay claim to that fact based on this ridiculous 6 game stint is stupid. adelman himself said he doesn't know, and that he doesn't know the timeline for it. and that's the point: he may or may not regain a lot of his old ways, but the timeline to know so is NOT 6 games of 7-8 minutes. if he plays for 25-30 minutes for 2-3 more months and he still struggles like last year, then yes, people can say he's done. but the only thing you can judge from his stint of 6 games is: 1) his knee is fine; he has experienced no pain from playing = no physical setback the other factors can only be determined when he plays more over a longer period of time. that won't be with us. it will be with another team.
Look whether or not the knee is healthy...... He is NOT the same player..... and He is in a contract year and not willing to play the role the team has for him. Therefore......good bye, it was NEVER going to work this year..... Never... DD
It wasn't that long ago with Adelman: His early season scoring spree, including that 47-point night in Utah last week: "I'm right at the top of my game. I feel pretty good. I feel light on my feet. The offense, I'm already accustomed to it. I know how to get easy shots." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-071110-11
