Exactly. You really think they'll just give us Iggy like that for a T-Mac which they're not even sure if he's going to get back into game shape? You gotta be dreaming. We're probably only getting Dalembert and Brand or something if this deal happens. I think Morey is smarter than that though..
Currently they are 13th or 14th in the Leastern conference standings and even though Iggy is their franchise player I don't see any progress on that team. I would think that if there was ever a time to really start a new it would be this off season.. Looking through some of the Philly boards indicate Iggy isn't an untouchable.. It all comes down to how well can they re-tool? Do they have a shot at some of the big names this off season?
Just thinking out loud. Would both teams be interested in the following trade?: Tracy McGrady ($22.8 expiring) Brian Cook ($3.5M expiring) for Samuel Dalembert ($12.0M, $12.9M in 2010-11) Willie Green ($3.68M, $3.97M ETO for 2010-11) Jason Kapono ($6.2M expiring) Philly's UNPROTECTED 2010 first round pick Basically, would the Rockets take on Dalembert's and Green's combined $16.9M in salary for 2010-11 for a chance at a top-5 pick? Would Philly be willing to give up that pick in order to clear that salary? The deal also gets the Rockets below the luxury tax threshold, while also keeping Phillly just below the tax threshold. Yeah, it's an ugly trade. But if that pick turns into John Wall, you're looking at a new era in Rockets basketball.
I would go for that as well. Looking at the big picture like I said, a 7 footer than rebounds and blocks shots is what we need as a back up for next season. Sure he is an over paid back up, but if we can afford it and it gets us a ring, go for it.
Dalembert does fill a great need of ours. All things considered however, where does Dalembert fit in on our team considering his contract as well as considering how well Hayes and Andersen have played?
Dalembert is an upgrade over Anderson and as for wher it leaves Chuck. For this season he backs up and for next season if we lose Landry or Scola he takes their spot.
hahah I can see it now that if they Pick is going top 5 then Tracy is going to play out of his mind just to make it a tweener lol..
Kapono isn't an expiring. His contract lasts until 2010-11 too, and taking three contracts worth 20 million is a bit much for a lottery pick. Take out Green then and I think I could buy it - Dalembart's a serviceable big who could be a back-up to Yao and whose contract is expiring next year, and while Kapono is garbage, that's the price for a lottery pick.
Because Philly isn't going to completely gut their team. Without Iggy, they have nothing but an overpaid Brand and that won't attract free agents. Also, Minnesota already has plenty of PGs. Trading one for another one doesn't make sense especially when they have the Rubio situation on their hands.
They don't know if Rubio is going to play for them or not. Philli is looking to rebuild anyway, so why not strip it? Lou Williams Iverson McGrady Brand Speights That is a good enough line up to secure a high draft pick.
Dammit, you're right. Forgot that next year is a player option for Kapono. $20M is not worth it just for a CHANCE at John Wall.
I'd be good with AB,TMAC, for Iggy + Dalembert. I'd hate to lose C-BUD and brooks, but with Trevor at the 3 with Battier (NO MORE BATTRIZA!) would c-bud play? plus we have to admit we're spoiled with lowry and brooks. Either one could and should start and lowry I think fits better than brooks with iggy here. Philly would get rid of a big contract, be able to make a push for someone this summer, and they would have 2 cheap, talented, and long term players. That's valuable. plus tmac = bonus. Heck, I'd give away ab, tmac, and any one of (hayes, cbud, trevor, anderson, dorsey, taylor)
and philly fans and reporters don't feel that way. they feel his contract is far too long and he is overpaid for a guy who isn't a franchise player. they are also dying to get rid of dalembert even though he only has 1 more year left on his albatross of a contract. that is why this trade may have a chance.
Dalembert makes 12 million dollars this year and next year. This year he would be our starter easily, while Hayes goes to the bench, Andersen falls out of the rotation. Next year, Yao comes back, Dalembert becomes a backup, and at worse we have too many bigmen for 1 year. It is likely Yao misses atleast some time next year and we have the depth to replace it. Furthermore next year Dalembert becomes a 12 million dollar expiring contract which has proven to be a valuable trade chip in Morey's hands. Take a matchup like Phoenix/Dallas/Denver who dont really have post up threats at the 5. If Yao is on the bench I like Dalembert in there as a shot blocker/rebounder rather than Hayes. Hayes is a great player but alot of his greatness comes from certain matchup advantages. I just think it gives us defensive flexibility and depth we havent had in a while.
the problem is they'd want to make dalembrt the centerpiece of the deal, not an add on. He may not be as young as morey would like and there's questions to his own work ethic in games. And then there's his salary. Just not a morey type player acquisition.
lol they love their over the hill broke down stars too. just think how dominant brand, tmac, and iverson would be.....6 years ago lol
