Dunno if this should be merged with the other Sixers thread since this contains a "source close to the situation". http://www.philly.com/inquirer/spor..._Kings__Carril__76ers_need_a_point_guard.html The Houston Rockets have made it known they will look to trade forward Tracy McGrady, whose expiring contract makes him desirable. Rumors have circulated about whether the Sixers could manage to put together a trade package with Houston. According to a source close to the situation, "nothing is happening" between the two teams, although the Sixers have contacted Houston about center Samuel Dalembert.
They tried a Dalembert for T-Mac trade over the summer and failed. There are only three players on that team I would want in return for taking on him.
Dalembert's not an awful guy to back up the center position. He rebounds and blocks shots as well as any non-starter. His contract is ugly ($12M next year), but only has one year left on it. At the bare minimum, they'd have to include another $7M in salary for the swap to happen. I'd guess their thought would be Kapono and filler. That or add Elton Brand and make a play for Scola or Landry (with Cook). On a random note, I thought Jrue Holiday would be a lot better than he has been.
dalembert is having a pretty productive season averaging 8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. sure he only gets 6 points but on 47% from the field and 81% from the line.
but dalembert has a tendency to slack off. If fans thought tmac wasnt going hard in those 8 mins they'll hate dalembert, sometimes he does it for 15-20. He's not a guy that goes out and gives it his all every game. At least not anymore.
Dalembert + Iggy for Tracy + Cook + Dorsey? With that alone Philli has 24 million off of the books for the next season. We get our starting 2 guard and for this season a starting center and next season a back-up. If we lose Landry or Scola to free agency that is where Hayes gets his minutes.
I agree. If they want to cast Dalembert to us, they better throw in at least Young, Speights, or Holliday.
I think we are dreaming for a Iggy+Dal lol They offered Dalembert this summer, what makes you guys think they will add an allstar just to get the deal done? Lmfao
If Iggy was included, we would need to send out Philadelphia homeboy Kyle Lowry since the Sixers needs a PG and he's a fit.
For those who seem to think McGrady is worth jack, there are a lot of people saying, only if you throw X player in. If you value your commodity as crap, guess what you are able to bargain for.
i wouldn't take on brands contract under any circumstance. he's due max money for 4 years. he only averages 13-7 and is rapidly declining. that contract cripples the ability to build a team under the LT restrictions.
