What do u expect for Tmac? We cant get no real good center come on instead upgrade at the spots were weak at the only guy i want the rockets to get and should trade away maybe one goog piece plus tmac is anthony randolph this guy is just a beast when he wants and gets PT and taking back a bad contract wouldnt be so bad if we got him
If you're willing to settle and trade McGrady's contract for pennies on the dollar (e.g. trading for an OK back up center), I honestly urge you to find Morey and tell him about a guy name Eddie Curry that's nailed to the Knicks bench right now. He's a center, he can back up Yao, and he's "OK". I like Randolph but, again, McGrady's salary makes it hard for any team to trade him without giving up at least 2-3 players.
CP3 has all of Brooks and Lowry's strengths combined with none of their weaknesses. Actually, he's better at what they do well. If we somehow got him we might as well start Budinger because he'd be feasting on open threes all day. I doubt anyone would miss Ariza, bring him off the bench to play the same role he had in LA. When Yao comes back we'd be deadly.
well I learned something new. I had no clue the salaries could be that far away. I was always under the impression they had to be much closer.
Most definitely. The Rockets wouldn't have financial flexibility until the 20th anniversary of the first championship.
You are correct that the Mavs have some assets. The issue is that many of the ones that you listed still aren't clearing as much money and retaining cheap assets. Sure you can user Damier just like I said, but it's still not close to McGrady's $23M. Howard, he can be an $11M expiring contract or he can be an asset. If you use him as a means to clear money, then what's left as assets for NO? Jason Terry? Great that his deal isn't fully guarenteed two years from now, but you still owe him $10M next year and half of that the following year. So, esentially he'd cost you $15M+ if he played next season (Salary + guarenteed portion for '11-'12). That's not what they're looking to do, they need to free up money now rather than in two years. Kidd still costs NO $17M over the next two years. That's not what they are looking to either. So, yeah you can trade Dampier and Howard and free up salary. But what's left for NO without taking on alot of salary? I don't believe they'd take Kidd and Terry with over $30 guarenteed over the next two years. Barrea and Beaubois? Inexpensive assets for sure, but hardly as valuable as Brooks/Scola. BTW, I also doubt that NO would want both Barrea and Beaubois. One maybe, but they have Collison already so I doubt that two PGs is that attractive. As far as the cash, we just spent $6M to acquire 3 second round picks. You think $3M would be a deal breaker for the Rockets? Regardless, I think that we just disproved the idea that "Teams will come out of the woodwork to get Paul. ". We're struggling to try and cobble together a single deal that's better than Brooks/Scola. There's simply not enough teams that have the capability to satisfy what NO would need no matter how much they would like to. Actually, I really expected that someone would propose that NJ absorb the bad contracts in the off season with their cap space and trade the #1 pick (assuming they win the lottery). That would be a good deal for NO. Basically John Wall for CP3 and the long term contracts. The problem, of course, is that it doesn't make sense from the NJ side. If NJ were to win the lottery they'd be better off with Wall + whatever FA they can acquire with their massive cap space. That's better than acquiring Paul and taking on $20M in bad contract.s
Actually the biggest upside to CP3 is that he can get the ball to Yao a lot better than Brooks or Lowry can. He's just a much better passer.
I didnt actually do the math, just a quick estimate. I could be off, but it appears to me that the proposed trade is within the guidelines http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q68
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/11841/tradenon-trade-were-big-deals-to-hornets Trade/non-trade were big deals to Hornets By Marc Stein Jason Hart was going to be traded Tuesday by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The only question was where: New Orleans or Phoenix. As a story that appeared briefly on the Timberwolves' Web site earlier in the day confirmed, Minnesota was convinced that it had a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to send Hart to the Hornets in exchange for Devin Brown. But Brown was able to block that deal from going through, much to the disappointment of the tax-conscious Hornets. Sources with knowledge of the teams' discussions told ESPN.com that Brown and agent Mark Termini refused to reduce the amount on the 10-percent trade kicker in Brown's $1.1 million contract. Brown was not asked to waive the whole kicker, sources said, but the trade math on a deal with the Hornets would not work unless Brown consented to forfeiting some money. Brown, though, would have been giving up a starting spot as well as the cash. He's started 23 of his 25 games this season and didn't know what sort of playing-time situation awaited in Minnesota. The appeal for the Hornets was Hart's non-guaranteed contract. They planned to waive him immediately just as Phoenix is planning to release Hart on Wednesday after the Suns capitalized on the collapse of the Minnesota-New Orleans deal to send Alando Tucker, cash and a conditional second-round pick to the Wolves for Hart. Meanwhile . . . The big-picture takeaway from all of Tuesday's drama surrounding a seemingly minor deal is that it's yet another example of the pressure -- some would say desperation -- New Orleans is feeling to get its payroll beneath the $69.9 million luxury-tax threshold. The wing positions have been major trouble spots for the Hornets all season, but Brown entered Tuesday’s play averaging 10.0 points in just 23.4 minutes per game while shooting a solid 41.1 percent from 3-point range. Yet the Hornets are currently $3.3 million over the tax line and remain prepared to send away Brown in a deal that brings back no guaranteed money, as seen over the summer when New Orleans felt it had to essentially donate Rasual Butler to the Los Angeles Clippers because of the tax benefits. There is a belief among some rival executives -- or perhaps it's more accurate to call it a hope -- that the Hornets will not be able to resist moving All-Star forward David West before the Feb. 18 trading deadline to ensure that they get comfortably under the tax threshold. New Orleans' preference would obviously be moving out player(s) from its list of veterans with contracts that stretch beyond this season. That list presumably includes Emeka Okafor, Peja Stojakovic, James Posey, Mo Peterson, Darius Songaila and Julian Wright. But a major shakeup with the Hornets would appear highly unlikely without involving West, since we know (as covered in this cyberspace last week) that they're not trading Chris Paul.
Thank you, BimaThug! As I said, I'm no expert in salary cap questions... In my trade scenario I included Landry (instead of Scola) because I thought, the Hornets would insist on getting more than one young player with potential. Scola is "old" and could walk at the end of the season, leaving the Hornets with only Brooks (and salary cap relief).
If CP3 was available for a reasonable price, you take him. Sure an all star wing or center might help this year's team more, but just like the CP3 trade, those are even less likely to be available. You would have to be nuts to be disappointed with a Tmac trade that landed us CP3 unless that trade totally gutted the team (in which case I doubt Morey would do it anyway).

http://www.indy.com/posts/pacers-owner-money-losses-can-t-continue Indiana as they are will be over the projected salary caps for 2010. If Pacers move Dunleavy, Murphy, and Foster for expiring contracts they can create over $17M of cap space. As well as get off the hook for that future salary. Houston: McGrady, Taylor/Dorsey, Cook, 2010 1R draft pick (option to swap with Pacers's) Indiana: 2010 1R draft pick, Dunleavy, Murphy, Foster To make it more palatable it would have to be a multi-team trade... http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/12/with_gms_beginning_to_assess_r.html Murphy → Szczerbiak (Sign and trade, like Van Horn was in the Kidd to Dallas trade) * Rockets can turn this move into a future trade asset by having Wally signed to a two year deal. The second year being fully non-guaranteed ($9.7M). A good trade chip on draft night or in free agency. Second only to Dampier's $13M non-guaranteed contract next season. http://www.sacbee.com/sports/story/2422568.html Foster → Kenny Thomas (expiring) End Result, Houston: Indiana's 2010 1R draft pick + Dunleavy + Szczerbiak + Thomas. * Wally and Kenny could still be moved at the trade deadline. Brooks, Lowry Ariza, Dunleavy, Szczerbiak Battier, Budinger, Harris Scola, Landry, Thomas, Taylor/Dorsey Hayes, Andersen, Yao
i would say it's on NOH and CHI best trade ecenario brad miller and jhonn salmon and peja or okafor both would end with Houston more dominant than they are right now NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
What is this junk i am reading? "Why get Paul when you have Brooks" Are you ****ing kidding me? Why get Bosh when you have Landry? Why get Kobe when you have Ariza? Why get Lebron when you have Shane? Outrageous.
salmons is having a horrible year with another to go on his contract. he's also a blackhole on offense.
I think i have mentioned this before, but i will mention it again. Tracy and Scola for Simmons,Najera,Boone, and Battie, 2011 1st rd pick. Doesnt look pretty and creates a logjam at the 2/3 and i would hate giving up scola, but the rockets get a center in boone,a pf/c in battie,a gritty 4 in najera, and simmons. Not only that, they drop under the lt. Also what it does is gives 30+ mins to landry to really see what he can do. Scola gives them a tough nosed consistent player next to lopez and it clears more cap room for the summer. Also, najera makes 3.5m,simmons makes 10m, and battie makes 7 which means all 3 are moveable again with another player combination this year.
