Right now Tyrus Thomas alone would help the team 1000x more than TMac and adding Brad Miller, who knows how to play in Adelmans offense, would make the trade even better..... so tell me how its a negative move on the talent end???
Morey is going to move McGrady to better the Rockets in the long run. I fail to see how the deal mentioned would benefit the Rockets, talent-wise, in the long run. You don't do a deal just to get expiring contracts back. The Rockets aren't going to be big players in the FA market so getting talent in return is a must, as has stated many MANY times before.
We can throw in Cook in the deal.. still works... Tyrus Brad Miller Jerome James for TMac Cook cut Harris
So you think Tyrus Thomas who is only 23 years old, has good potential, and is improving his numbers every year... wouldn't help the Rockets in the long run?
He's not a bad player by any means but re-signing him when he becomes a free agent next season kills any chance of adding other players to this team. If the best we can get for McGrady is Miller's expiring, Thomas' potential, and Salmon's beard, I guess I will live with it.
but it is a negative move financially. Rockets will only have to pay only 20% of TMAC's salary by not trading him. Rockets will lose millions of dollars by taking just expiring contracts. why do the trade if you lose $10M?
We would be screwing everyone on that trade! But hey, I'll take it. Why would Sac want Hinrich though? They already have an injury proned scorer in K Mart and Tyreke Evans is the man there, don't see the point in brining in Captain Kirk.
Not really a lateral move on the talent end considering McGrady ain't McGrady no more. Even a lateral move sounds desirable if it's to a relative noncontender on an Eastern conf team though, because, so long as they are all expirings, Morey can break up the big fat T-Mac contract into smaller contracts which buy us more flexibility at the trade deadline. The problem of course is keeping our roster size in check--we can't add anyone without cutting someone else and that's never a desirable option if the player you're cutting (like Brian Cook or Joey Dorsey) has an expiring of their own which is valuable, or if you actually use those players (Jermaine Taylor).
Yes "reports". I highly doubt Morey would want that contract as you say so it is still a dream. Personally I would like Hinrich here but that contract is the downside. Salmons would be ok here though I'm not that high on him.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...pen-to-acquiring-Tracy-McGrady?urn=nba,211222 Rumor: Bulls are open to acquiring Tracy McGrady By J.E. Skeets We went a little wild with the Tracy McGrady trade rumors in this morning's SL post, but hey, what's one more? Or two? Or three? No, just one. To remix a previous McGrady rumor, the Rockets are looking to unload the disgruntled ex-star and his $23.2 million expiring contract right now and the Chicago Bulls might be the team to do it for them, according to The Daily Herald. One of the regrettable chapters in recent Bulls history was the failed free-agent pursuit of 2000. The No. 1 target was Toronto's Tracy McGrady(notes), who was met at O'Hare Airport by mascots, Luv-a-Bulls and a three-piece band playing "Sweet Home Chicago." It was all for naught as McGrady chose Orlando. Nearly 10 years later, the Bulls may get another chance. McGrady recently left the Houston Rockets and both sides reportedly will seek a trade. Sources suggested the Bulls are open to acquiring McGrady, who is just 30 years old. A trade with the Bulls would almost have to include the expiring contracts of Brad Miller and Jerome James, because, as Howard Beck of the New York Times pointed out, the Rockets are likely reluctant to acquire any long-term contracts unless they view the players as building blocks for the future. But Mike McGraw adds another wrinkle: Chicago might be interested in moving John Salmons to guarantee a larger amount of cap space next summer. (I love the "might." It's John Salmons for crying out loud.) He's owed $6.5 million next season but has an option to terminate the deal and become a free agent. Of course, the odds of this happening are minuscule. Unless Isiah Thomas lands another GM job, no one in their right mind is going to give Salmons more than $6.5 million to play basketball next season. Oh, trade rumors. Fun fun. no to Salmons
No team would ever trade expirings and a young asset for T-mac. What we are looking for is a team with young asset but also have some terrible contracts that we would have to absorb.
The Bulls have nothing I would want that they would be willing to part with. Unless we throw in another player or two into the trade mix to get someone decent for Tracy, the only move that would involve tracy alone would be for Oneal. I dont want a bunch of over paid scrubs with a couple years on their contracts for Tracy's expiring contract.
[Unconfirmed] Mac to Chicage for Salmons,Miller and gray This is not confirmed. SOmeone on insidehoops posted that on espn radio chicago he heard ROckets trade Mac for Salmons, Miller and Gray. This is not confirmed or official!
I heard the same thing, same site and I'm vacationing in Chicago right now and my relative heard it on the radio as well. If it does happen, I wish we would have gotten Deng instead of Salmons.
