What about this? HOU Trades: TMAC Brooks Cook Scola HOU Receives: Jose Calderon Hedo T CB4 Now hear me out. We lose Brooks but we get Jose whose is a very capible player himself. He's paid about 9m for the next 4 years but he's only 25 so well have him in his prime years. Upside:Jose is a better shooter (from med. to the 3pt line) and passer than Brooks. And having a PG thats a good shooter with good playmaking ability (passing) will be vitial with Landry, Bosh, and Yao in the paint (and in Adelman's system). We'll have him for (in) his prime years. Downside: His D isnt good, but we also keep Lowry who can even it out with his D (much like with Brooks). He has a bigger and longer contract and he's is not as quick as Brooks(but who is?). We also take on Hedo Turkoglu. I know he's a little overpaid by about 2-3 mill but he could also become a very valuable asset to the team. Upside: Ric knows how to use Hedo and will get the very best out of him (Ric had said he wish he never lost Hedo in SAC). We could also use (6'10) Hedo for mismatches, he can score from anywhere (shoots better than Battier and far better than Ariza), knows Ric's system and can finish games (he was the finisher in ORL his last few years there). Downside:His contract at his age (30). He would be on contract until he's 35 (but he could still be a very capible with his skillset). His D is just average. He's tall but dont expect him bang to much (at all). Now on to Bosh. Upside: We get a (relitively) young (25) franchise player that will be entering his prime. We'd have the best backcourt in the league. We would own the paint on offense and on D. Nothing weak would make it through. Bosh can create for himself and others. Can hit the mid. ranger (from a passing Yao) all day. Can also move to the C and run. Not injury prone. Overview: Riskly because of long contracts coming back (and chemistry). But we also keep our identity (D and hustle) intact with Landry, Lowry, Battier, Hayes, and Yao. And chemistry change is always a possibility in any trade. This would be the lineup: Calderon/Lowry Ariza or Battier/Chase B. Hedo/Ariza or Battier/Chase B. Bosh/Landry/Hayes Yao/Bosh/Hayes and we could also go with a up-tempo lineup of: Lowry Ariza Hedo Landry Bosh Why for TOR?: TOR wont trade a star for junk (no one will) without some extra incentives(Brooks by himself isnt enough). Thats why we take on some of their biggest and longest contracts. Bosh leaving means they're finished and have to rebuild. We help them with a assload of savings and Brooks and Scola. And they could easily flip Scola for something else if they wanted. We may even have to throw them some kinda pick. Final Thoughts (JS like): We cant sign a star even if we would let Mac expire. Forget about the 2010 offseason. We already have a good team with good players. What we need on this team are a couple of star players and finishers. We accomplish both with this trade. We need a star to put with Yao or we need to just rebuild. We need to either go for broke or just cash it in. It just depends on how much faith you have in Yao to come back strong.
^ you probably wouldnt have to give up Brooks if you took back Turk AND Calderon. also JerryZgoda: "Kahn says trade is likely in next few hours." Perhaps McGrady related?
Memphis to Houston Zach Randolph Steven Hunter Rudy Gay 2nd Rd pick for Tmac Taylor Dorsey 1st Rd Pick and a conditional 1st/2nd depending on if Gay re-signs I know this wrecks the free agent plans for this summer, but I think it's a possible trade. Gay doesn't look like he will resign, so Memphis just might try to get as much possible for him. This is just a random idea, what ya'll think?
Rockets get Kevin Martin Jason Thompson Andres Nocioni Kenny Thomas Kings get T-Mac Battier Scola Taylor
I like it. I don't know if the Kings would let go of Jason Thompson but Battier and Scola would definitely make them think twice especially while unloading Nocioni/KT's contracts.
Marc Gasol With the Grizzlies developing Thabeet, Marc Gasol is going to have to be traded eventually. He's already turned himself into a good NBA center .......and is still improving. What's the consensus here on Marc and the implications of such a move? It would be a gutsy play for the Rockets to go after him, but basketballwise, the right strategy IMO.
My point exactly. They would be real reluctant to let go of Thompson.....but they get 2 great leaders in Battier and Scola who are hard nosed and play tough. Scola wouldn't be such a bad replacement for Thompson either. And to get rid of Nocioni's and Thomas' contracts would be huge to them.
I love CLUTCHFANS!!!! Its funny how guys come up with ridiculous trades and only think of one side and not the other.... IBTL but what seriously makes you think they want to trade him and what makes u think the rockets want him... Why would the Grizzlies want McGrady when they just got rid of iverson. Think pal think
If nothing else develops for McGrady, I would settle for Zach and Marc for him at the deadline. That is, provided, nothing else develops.
Thabeet has zero , 0, Nada skills man... I would be amazed if he picked up a nice contract after his rookie one is up..
