That Chicago one only looks good if you completely ignore this part: If Salmons decides to take the option on next year, that's $6 million less we have and completely sinks our chances of luring a top FA.
Rumor that Devin Brown is going to the Twolves today...not sure if that is outright, or a player swap, but NO would be sending off a SG and clearing additional roster/cap space maybe?
Stop posting images that are bigger then the damn forum! I like the Minny one best. Saving Les money can always be a good thing plus not taking much for next contracts.
part of me wants Gilbert Arenas...I know I'm a sucker for him potentially staying healthy and being a 25ppg monster at the 2 that can still pass the ball but it makes sense that we turned it down if we could land a first rounder and gilbert I think you might have to go ahead take a closer look at Gilbert's condition right now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm2XO28YRYU Kobe looking helpless out there against Agent 0
Ben Gordon, Rip Hamilton and Chris Wilcox for Tracy Mcgrady and Brian cook We get 2 scoring players who are both go to guys and Pistons get a bunch of cap relief. It's not like they're going anywhere anyways. Gordon and Rip are both locked up for 4 years and we have way more use for them then the Pistons do and this would give the Pistons a chance to rebuild through FA/lottery. Furthermore, if we can land Gordon and Rip this gives us more the leverage to get rid of Ariza if he truly isn't a good fit and or package Battier for a legit big man.
Well, Bill Simmons says we should swap Tmac, Brooks, and Scola for CP3 + fillers. Honestly, that would be a pretty ideal trade for both teams considering they can't field a contender and Paul will just end up leaving anyways.
these are the only deals i have heard that make sense, expiring contracts or some real talent is the only thing we're trading mcgrady for
its funny how I brought up the same ppl in the chicago deal minus Miller but my post was closed early this morning Chicago Bulls!!!! Best Trade Partner???
Beggars cannot be choosers. Mcgrady is an overpaid waste that's rotting away. Gordon is plenty good to be our starting shooting guard or a Jason Terry type of 6th man for us. He can shoot, penetrate and most importantly find his own shot. I'd rather have Gordon "chucking" shots rather than watch Ariza build a brick mansion.
I would throw up. I think that's way too much to give up for CP. It's not often that you find big men with awesome jumpers and a work ethic like Luis. Chris Paul is great, but there will be another point guard, like every draft, who has his potential. I'll stick with AB and Scola. Chemistry is sometimes more important than incorporating a "superstar."
Chris Paul (trade), Chris Bosh (F/A or trade), or Ricky Rubio + Corey Brewer. If none of the above, I would rather wait until the contract expires and sign Joe Johnson.
Who said we are beggars? We have a 23M expiring contract. No other team in the league has that. Only a few like Miami will even be sniffing 23M coming off their books this offseason. All signs point to waiting until the trade deadline, with not even the possibility of a buyout being proposed.
I wouldn't do it either but not for the same reasons. Chris Paul will go down as one of the best PGs of all time when all is said and done. However, I think people continually overrate the importance of the PG position at this level. The best PGs in the game are almost always trumped by dominant wings and big men when the playoffs roll around. John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Chris Paul, etc... have all been swept aside by teams that featured dominant wings or bigs. There are guys like Parker, Billups and Isiah but those guys had really good players around them. Duncan is and always will be the cornerstone of this Spurs mini-dynasty regardless of who gets postseason awards. Once he retires, Parker will unlikely sniff another finals appearance let alone a championship. Isiah's Pistons had a ton of quality players and tremendous chemistry much like Billups' Pistons. If we can put together a package of players that will bring us back a truly dominant wing or big, I'd be all for it. Trading for a PG that will take max dollars out of your available payroll only to be beaten by teams that pay max dollars for dominant wings or bigs come playoff time wouldn't be worth doing unless you plan to use said PG to acquire another piece down the line. No matter how much they change perimeter defense rules and no matter how much some may consider the importance of PG play, wings and bigs are almost always the key pieces to championships, in my opinion. I'd rather watch the Rockets struggle for a few seasons and take our chances at drafting our next franchise wing or big man than do any of the likely trades available in the near future. Buy out McGrady's contract or let it expire and go from there.
We're not beggars, regardless of McGrady being damaged goods at this point. The job of an NBA GM may be difficult, but it's extremely simple to describe: Out-smart the other GMs. Our GM alone elevates us to non-beggar status. We shouldn't have to settle for players like Gordon.
You do realize we're not going to have the cap space to sign a LBJ/WADE/BOSH etc even if Mcgrady's contract expires right? If we make the playoffs we're not advancing deep anyways. I call that mediocrity. Nobody wants to be mediocre. If we have the chance to bring in some difference makers by trading Mcgrady right now... that can at least assure a playoff birth and greater our chances of advancing in the playoffs then there's no reason to wait. Something has to be done and it has to be done immediately. Adelman is in a contract season as well and I'm sure he could use some extra ammo to help him get to where he wants this team to be at.
