We had a legitimate top 5 player in the NBA his first year here. After a magical 7 game series against Dallas where he played like God, he had a major back injury and was never the same since. He lost his passion and the little mental strength he already had. After that he became a very inefficient volume shooter who who was a pain to watch most of the time. In summary, he gave us one great individual year then 3-4 mediocre ones.

The way he played in 2007 when Yao went down and the Rockets went 20-12. I think he had like 7 30pt games in a row or something. The way he played for most of the streak. But mostly I'll remember the most talented Rocket since Hakeem and maybe one of the most talented basketball players ever who was just missing....something. I hope he lands somewhere where he can get to the 2nd round. I wish things could've ended differently but that's how the chips fall sometimes. Good luck Mac wherever you end up.
Honestly, I remember Tracy as a non-competitive non aggressive and none defensive player!! In other words, he doesn't take over the game and doesn't seem to know when it's time to be the man and take over. He likes to take happy jump shots and hardly attack the rim inside. He likes to pass the ball when the team is behind....that is why i say he lacks the killer instinct like those of Kobe and Wade.
I'll remember Tracy for never getting out of the first round. I hope he does make it to the second round someday. I know it's a long shot but I wish him the best. C'ya I wouldn't want to be ya. HOUSTON... we no longer have a problem.
13 in 33 is how I'll remember him, because it's a bittersweet summary of his entire bittersweet Rockets career. Like with Dream before him, it's always great when your own team has a player capable of doing something that will still be talked about years (or even decades) in the future. Those amazing moments are what all of us basketball fans live for. On the other hand, it perfectly illustrates the wide gulf between McGrady's promise and his reality. With that much sheer talent and ability, if he had the work ethic of Yao or the determination of Scola or even the hustle of Ryan Bowen... well, we wouldn't be having this conversation -- instead we'd be wearing our recent-vintage "Rockets NBA Champs" T-shirts. It's ironic that in a city whose entire pro sports championship history can be summed up in that one phrase uttered by Rudy T., the only thing missing from T-Mac's impressive arsenal is the heart of a champion.
Yeah... because Rockets is trying to center around Chuck Hayes? Ariza was brought into Houston to be the big piece apparently. However they didn't calculate in that he has no handles, lack play making ability/court vision, bad shot selection, etc... But you're right... I shouldn't be comparing Ariza to Tmac... It's an insult to McGrady.
