We won't have much cap room no high lottery pick. Morey needs to pull some magic out. Low 1st rounders will only take you so far. How many franchise players last past no. 5 pick of the draft.
No knick fan here! It's a Win Win situation all the players we trade for ,are all expiring at the end of the year. These are Adelmen's type of players = fast and active. Lets face it the cats out of the bag; what other player packages could we get from other teams?
Off the top of my head: Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Amare Stoudamire, Gilbert Arenas, Dirk Nowitzki, Andre Iguodala, Al Jefferson, Danny Granger, Brandon Roy, Carlos Boozer, Caron Butler , Joe Johnson, Michael Redd, Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, Tony Parker
A lot of those guys aren't franchise guys IMO. franchise guys to me = Duncan, Shaq, Lebron Kobe - Yes Dirk -yes PP - borderline plus he should have been a top 5 pick nash - Yes
Would you be unhappy if we were able to acquire a player comparable to anyone on that list? If you're going to be disappointed if the Rockets don't acquire a Duncan,Shaq or Lebron equal, then you might as well get prepared to be disappointed. Was there ever a scenario where we acquire a guy like that? If so, what was it?
Frankly speaking, I can't see rox trading Tmac for anyone. There is no roster spot in the Rox squad for 2-1 or 3-1 trades. Any trades for Tmac will be for its expiring, not for Tmac's skill. Hence Cook and Dorsey will not be included. I understand there is the 15% ruling or is it 25%, but with the current economy, I doubt any teams will be willing to take in too much of a difference. This is the list of players with contracts of 13m and above. http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm Anyone on the list that Rox have interest and can offer a decent trade?
What about Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Tmac and AB?... Ray Ray has an expiring contract and Rajon is turning into a beast
It'll be interesting which rotation player(s) get bundled up with the McG trade package. Unless we're moving McG for McTrash, someone's going to have to go with him in order for our incoming player to have a rotation spot. My desire is Scola, only because Landry needs the extended minutes and because Luis is due to be an RFA soon. No doubt he'll command ~8MM on the open market. P.S. "are" vs "our". Is it really that complex??
Thanks exactly why Rockets will probably send him as a sweetner in a deal. He's putting up big numbers at just 3mil/year...he's a restricted free agent after this season that will definitely demand more than his current contract...If Landry is in their long term plans, which he should be...his contract is up next year, and I doubt the Rockets would want to pay two PFs big money...especially when Yao will be back averaging around the same numbers. There wont be as many minutes to share when Yao is back at his position...
