If a trade that helped the Rockets was available, but it involved taking back more players than they're giving up (which pretty much any T-Mac trade would involve), the Rockets would have little problem with dumping some of its players.

--Mike Harris is on a non-guaranteed deal. In fact, he will likely be waived before January 5, when all player contracts become guaranteed.

--Joey Dorsey is only making $881,000 this season, with next year's salary being non-guaranteed. He could either be traded (with cash) or just waived (but with the Rockets taking a slight luxury tax hit).

--Unless a T-Mac trade can drop the Rockets well below the luxury tax threshold, Brian Cook WILL be traded at the trade deadline (or earlier), along with cash and/or a future pick, to a team with cap room or a trade exception.

Bottom line: Roster space can be created.

I was thinking a trade with Chicago, the Bulls get Tracy, the Wolves get Deng, we get Brad Miller and Minnesota expirings and the rights to Rubio. There would be a lot more small details to work out.

Chicago isn't likely to sign Dwayne Wade, but they need to be in a position to sign both him and another near-max dude (Boozer?)

I still like that GS trade rumor floating around. Kinda hard to say no to Ellis, Biedrins, and Randolph even if it is for Stacy and Scola.

This is not exactly a McGrady trade directl, but I think it would open things up for Morey to negotiate. How about:

    Brooks
    Battier
    Cook

    for

    Kevin Martin
    S. Rodriguez
    2nd round pick

Brooks is as his highest value, Sac has wanted him, and he would be a good fit next to T. Evans. Battier is invaluable as a team leader and all the etc intangibles, and I would hate to see him go, but I think getting K Mart without using McGrady's EC will allow Morey to have more options for ex:

    Arenas
    Blatche
    Young

    for

    McGrady
    Dorsey
    Taylor

So, hypothetically our lineup next year could be
    Arenas/Lowry/Rodriguez
    K Mart/Young
    Ariza/Budinger
    Scola/Landry
    Yao/Hayes/Blatche

    Flame away

There is no way this trade "works on paper."
I highly doubt you're joking as well.

I realize that this is a Houston board, but come on... some of these trades are RIDICULOUS. I am a Rockets homer too but when suggesting trades, the whole point is to have some sort of realistic probabability of it happening; specifically stating reason(s) why the other team would do such a deal. Please take that into consideration when posting future trades.

here's one to think about. rockets and spurs make a trade. rockets propose a trade to spurs and offer tmac, battier or ariza, and cook for ginobli and blair.
now would they do it is the question. they get allstar talent for roughly the same thing in exchange and both teams fill spots that are in need. right now the spurs need scoring. they are still working on team chemistry with all of their off-season moves and we are still kind of doing the same thing but our chemistry is a little better. blair could be plugged in right away as our starting 5 and we can work ginobli in with c-bud/taylor/ariza/battier (which ever one we end up keeping of the last two listed). and they could get a perennial allstar and some key role players to help them out. i know it seems far fetched but nothing is impossible. just ask adidas.

Ben Gordon, Rip Hamilton and Chris Wilcox

    for

    Tracy Mcgrady and Brian cook

We get 2 scoring players who are both go to guys and Pistons get a bunch of cap relief. It's not like they're going anywhere anyways. Gordon and Rip are both locked up for 4 years and we have way more use for them then the Pistons do and this would give the Pistons a chance to rebuild through FA/lottery.

Furthermore, if we can land Gordon and Rip this gives us more the leverage to get rid of Ariza if he truly isn't a good fit and or package Battier for a legit big man.
