I have heard alot about him wanting to be traded. Are the rumours true? I have seen this guy, he is awesome. If possible we should try to get him. I think that Draft day trades can only involve signed player so what about, Cato, 4.5, Drew, #9 for Abdul Rahim, Harrington. ------------------ Rockets games are like a box of chocolates, you never know whacha your gonna get.
Not too bad, but that leaves us with no center, no draft pick to pick up a center, and two less players to trade for a center ------------------
I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Vancouver wouldn't do it if Reef had a gun to their head. We'd have to at least take on Reeves too, and that's a LOT of $$$. The center solution would be easy. KT,Walt, or Rogers could be traded away in a package to acquire Potapenko, Camby, or Kandi, and any of those 3 along with Hakeem would make make an ok short term fix. Looking at it salary cap wise-VAN puts out roughly 14 million (estimating..didn't do any actual figures) about 5 mill of that can't be taken in, because Reef is BYC, so they can take in $9 mill in players Houston puts out about 11 million (6.5 in actual players). Cato is BYC, and we can only get back 2.66 for him, plus 4.5, plus 1.33 for Drew.....that means we can take in about 9.5 million. We'd have to add either a 3rd team, or MAYBE Rogers would make it work. It still would be a pretty bad trade for Vancouver....with teams like Portland and NYK willing to move some real stars (Stoudamire, Houston) and even NJ (KVH) that's likely where Reef is moved. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
nike, you tryin to tell me that drew and cato aren't "real" stars ? ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.
gr8-1: Drew and Cato are right there, almost to that level. Drew's got great penetration, and incredible athleticism. Cato is one of the most offensively polished players in the NBA, and a tenacious rebounder. They're right at the footstep, just need to bring it up a notch......or 10. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
The Abdur-Rahim wanting out rumors are false. His agent is upset that he doesn't have any say with management issues, however he wasn't speaking for Abdur-Rahim.
SP-I *think* Reef was quoted as saying he was dissapointed he wasn't asked, but he also said something about they should do what they think is best. He didn't really complain. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
NIKEstrad, That was Aaron Goodwin being quoted not Abdur-Rahim. Abdur-Rahim's only comments that potentially could mean him wanting out was when he said that he would look at other options if Stu Jackson were fired. ------------------ There better be a statue of Hakeem outside of the new downtown arena.

drew reminds me of a young white stockton, only without the talent. cato reminds me of a young polynice, only w/o the brains and heady play. ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.

This is right from NBA.com (note: it could be a conspiracy though, so take it for what its worth Shareef Abdur-Rahim ------------------
http://www.vancouverprovince.com/grizzlies/stories/000602/4207057.html Goodwin stressed that, while Abdur-Rahim is unhappy that he wasn't involved, his initial reaction was: "If they feel it's the best situation for the team, then fine." Still, Goodwin made clear that Abdur-Rahim wonders why communication between the franchise's new braintrust and its marquee player was not more open. "In this era," said Goodwin, "successful organizations have good relationships between players and coaches. Before Phil Jackson was hired in L.A., he talked with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. Before Paul Westphal signed with the Seattle SuperSonics, he met with Gary Payton." ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
I guess you haven't followed Aaron Goodwin much. His big three clients are Payton, Rahim, and Vin Baker so there is plenty of fun quotes from Goodwin. ------------------
Nope, I don't really watch agents (except maybe Falk) very carefully. He may be pretty busy this offseason, since there's a chance 2 or maybe even 3 of them could be traded. Baker likely is gone. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
