Isn't giving Mcgrady minutes an option? I'm not convinced he can't play.

But if option B is available, you have to take it.

Anything other than Option B will be disappointing. But it's the lesat likely scenario though. Well, the whole McGrady thing is incredibly disappointing. :(

Adding another role player, even a high end one, won't make this team a title contender. Unless Yao comes back and play like an MVP, you might as well hope the Morey can somehow draft a superstar from the lower middle first round.

You really think the Knicks would do that? Obviously, they want to move dead weight like Curry, Hughes and Mobley's contract....and yeah, we know they're interested in T-Mac. But Lee is arguably their best player. I would be all over this.

This is really difficult to choose. It all depends on what is available on the table. There is little risk to let the contract expiring and in the same time to have insurance covered on it.

Priority 1. B. Chris Paul only, not Chris Bosh or Kevin Martin.
    Priority 2. A.
    Priority 3. D.
    Priority 4. C.

Very interesting seeing some of the results here. It seems roughly half of you prefer we swing for the fences and try to pull off a blockbuster. While the rest of you seem split between Marburying him and pulling off a trade where we simply add a piece or two for "free" and rolling with what we already have.

Trades I think are plausible and make sense:

    Okur + AK47 for Tmac

Ellis, Maggette, Randolph for Tmac and Lowry/or Brooks

From a talent perspective, this would be a fantastic return given our situation. Only thing is this would completely wreck our chemistry and season. Integrating 2.5 selfish players onto a team that's used to playing a certain way will undoubtedly having growing pains. So giving up on this season would be rough, but this could make us better in the long-run. Overall, decent idea.

No take on my McGrady for Redd and Thomas trade?

Not a chance, no offense. Have you seen Redd this year? He's a shell of the player that he used to be. 12 PPG on 12 shots....can't shoot anymore. He's not worth a fraction of the $35M he's owed. Plus, Thomas is too old.

I would do it just for Mo Williams. His PER is better than McGrady's. But I think Lebron would have to be thrown in to match the salaries.

Morey has clearly stated in the past that he wants another all-star caliber player if he were to trade tmc, so that means scenario B.

I wouldn't mind having Martin (SAC), Randolph (GSW), or more wishfully, Bosh (TOR) or Paul (NOH). But, as others have stated, we'll probably have to take a bad contract back with any of those players. In which case, we must get a 1st round pick back.

And, we may have to give up one or two of these guys in the process; Brooks, Scola, Battier or Landry.

Many of the realistic trades posted on CF sound pretty good. But none of us have come up with the trade that will go down.

This is Morey's chance to work his magic and improve the Rockets for this season and moving forward. And, as most on CF, I have much faith in the man.

I would like this trade to happen sooner, rather than later, but Morey will probably wait 'til the trading deadline because he will be taking bids from suitors from now until He pulls the trigger on the trade. Morey will not accept either of the bad contracts from New York. That is never going to happen.

It is likely that when a trade finally does happen, it will involve more than two teams, we will get a very good shooter, a bad contract, a draft pick and a bitter sweet loss of one or two of our currently coveted Rockets. I just can't wait to find out what happens!

As others have said, option B is unlikely.

So option C, but it needs to happen soon.

That way there would be time for a second trade(s) before the February deadline.

Option D is the most reasonable, both economically and market wise.

Economically because his salary is being paid only in part by the Rox.

Market wise because there are not suitable trade partners other than getting bad contracts and somehow usefull but not star players. At this point of the season is hard to introduce new players, so i prefer to wait untill the offseason and do it there.

Plus, his latter attitudes doesn't deserve us to take any detriment towards the team so that he can play, so let him rotten or let him offer us a buyout.

Agreed with you and leeb that if option C is going to happen it definitely needs to happen sooner rather than later. This is the type of move the Knicks would agree to in a heartbeat so if it's going down that way you might as well play your odds and make it happen. NY is so interested in both T-Mac and unloading deadweight to the point where we might be able to snag a Jordan Hill type as well.

Well, ESPN is reporting that Morey wants an All-Star or potential All-Star type otherwise the deal is off. Needless to say, this is good news and if this holds true....Option B, FTW!

If I'm correct (big if), I think the Jermaine O'neal's contract is about the same as tmac's as far as expiring next year.

I would trade for Jermaine O'neal if possible. He fits a need, can contribute, and has the same expiring deal for next year's free agency money (I think)
