What's up with people thinking Yao can't play in Rick's offense?

His work in the post is definitely effective. The problem has always been getting the ball to him in the post. You have to pin some of the blame on Yao for that -- although a big target, he could be better at receiving entry passes. Plus, he is not able to punish defenders for fronting him, stemming from the same problem.

btw, I think Yao will play for china in next summer world championship.

The Tmac situation will remind him and his agents that they cannot be passive to let the rockets handle the whole situation. Yao will prove he is still a dominant player in the world championship.

TMac showed he is willing to change because he could not play his old level. If he could, he will become his old himself, and screw up the team again.

I really hope TMac can play as well as before, as a team-first player, with heart, toughness and defense. But this is impossible because history has proved it again and again.

Aldelman has a history of doing this sort of thing. I was a supporter of our coach but am unsure now as I just don't think he is being honest with McGrady or the fans. I am not sure that it has anything to do with McGradys level of contribution after surgery, I just think Adelman wanted to get rid of him ! I think that some things remain unknown at this point, we might possibLY NEVVER know the full story. :p

er know the completre truth of this matter

what is adelman's offense? this thread needs to clarify that first.

many guys are making it sound like only one style is right for a team, or like only our current style can win a championship. it is not.

a great coach like adelman makes his offensive game plan fit the main players he has, not the other way around. that's the reason we are seeing the playing style we are seeing this season; and it is the same reason why we will be seeing a different style when yao comes back.

assuming yao comes back fully healthy, both him and our current offensive game plan need to change in order to fit each other. it's a 2-way thing, not one way.

There are also aspects of the offense that will remain the same. That is the beauty of having a changer like Yao in there. You can run an offense similar to what they did last year(without the Artest-like hiccups) and get the best of both worlds. Plus this year's experience for all the guys will help during times when Yao sits next year.

To win the basketball game, you not only need fullcourt offense, which btw Yao will probably have no problem fitting in to, he's preparing to be running, you also need halfcourt offense as well. Run and Gun = Fail.

I think you also have to include RA's dislike with those stars coming back from injuries. He is reluctant to thrust guys into the lineup and broke the so called chemistry.
I am sensing the rockets are going to do the same to Yao as to Tmac, as long as RA is here.

Hmm. Yao was coming back from season ending injury to start teh 08-09 season. He fit right in, and as mentioned in the post you quoted, had a very efficient year.

you mean doing the smart thing?
You think Yao is going to play 30 minutes a game when he comes back?
You think that would be smart? knowing how Yao's foot has been?
