Draft day is fun to cogitate on, and come up with puzzles to unravel, just to stimulate the mind. Do you ever wonder if the Rockets just went balls to the wall and tried to make every trade possible on the board that we've heard of, and end up rebuilding the team in one year?

Well, this year is a very unusual draft. Actually, I believe there are a lot of very good players this year, except they are young, and will take more time to develop. Well, we are rebuilding, so we don't care, and we can take those type players, and trade NOW players for future potential type players.

Certain players tend to rise and fall on draft day. Now this is like day trading. It's dangerous, but exciting stuff. Houston would like to get Swift, but I think his value has gone up so much, as have Mihm, Prysbilla, Martin, and Fizer. They could be traded for a combo players of greater value, such as a Miles, Moiso, Johnson, Stephenson, Carrawell, N'Diaye and Porter.

This scenario isn't possible, not because noone would do any of them, but because nothing like this ever falls into place, so here's a fun scenario if we went crazy trading on draft day.

<OL>[*]Houston trades Cato, #9, future Detroit pick, and player to be named later, to NJ for the #1 pick and Kittles, whose contract they want to rid themselves of.
    [*]Houston trades #1, #38 to Chicago for #4, #7, #32, #33 and #34.
    [*]Chicago picks Mihm with #1
    [*]Vancouver takes Martin with #2
[*]Houston trades Drew, Kittles, Williams, TMass and the #7 to LAC for the #3 and Kandi. This is not a problem, since they are under the cap, and they need long contracts to keep people there. This way they get a better point guard, are able to trade Nesby, a solid backup SF, a decent center, and will be able to pick up a PF, such as Moiso, and still draft a couple guards later.
[*]Houston trades the #3 and the Orlando pick owed to Orlando for #5, #10, and #13.
    [*]Orlando takes Swift with #3.
[*]Houston takes Pryzbilla with #4, then trades him to Portland for Jermaine Oneal and #28.
[*]LAC is shocked that Fizer is still on the board. They decide to trade their #7 pick and #18 to Houston for #5 pick.
    [*]LAC picks Fizer with #5.
[*]Atlanta takes Courtney Alexander or Miller with #6
    [*]Houston takes Miles with #7.
    [*]Cleveland takes Tsakalidis with #8.
[*]New Jersey takes Miller or Alexander with #9.
    [*]Houston take Moiso with #10.
    [*]Boston takes Cleeves with #11.
    [*]Dallas takes Oyediji with #12.
[*]Houston takes Dermarr Johnson with #13.
    [*]Detroit takes Barkley with #14.
[*]Milwaukee takes Etan Thomas with #15.
    [*]Sacramento takes Richardson with #16.
[*]Seattle takes Ernest Brown with #17.
[*]Houston takes Carawell with #18. This guy is a great pick for the Rockets here. He's a defensive SF who would should have gone in the first ten if people didn't draft for needs.
[*]At #19, Charlotte is terribly dissapointed that Carrawell isn't there now, and takes Jason Kapono, the next best SF.
[*]Philadelphia takes Desmond Mason at #20.
[*]Houston trades Rogers, player to be named later and #28 to Toronto for the #21 using our exception.
[*]Houston takes Deshawn Stephenson with #21.
[*]The Knicks take Soumaila Samake with #22.
[*]Utah take local favorite Hanno Matolo with #23.
    [*]Chicago picks Redd with #24.
[*]Phoenix takes Jason Collier with #25.
[*]Utah takes Morris Peterson at #26.
[*]Houston trades Kandi to Indiana for Croshere in a sign and trade and #27.
    [*]Houston takes N'Diaye with #27.
[*]Houston gives #28 to Vancouver to fulfill future pick obligation.
[*]Vancouver takes Corey Hightower with #28.
[*]LA Lakers takes Donnel Harvey with #29.
[*]LA Clippers take Keyon Dooling with #30.
[*]Dallas takes Dalibor Bagaric with #31.
[*]Houston takes Chris Porter with #32.
[*]Houston takes Jamaal Crawford with #33, sends him to NJ as the player to be named later.
[*]Houston takes El-Amin with #34, sends him to Toronto as the player to be named later.
    [/list=a]

So after all this craziness, Houston ends up with:

Trading: Williams, Drew, Rogers, TMass, and Cato, future owed picks, and future pick owed.
Receiving: Jermaine Oneal, Austin Croshere, Kevin Willis.
Reduce cap: by over 9 mil, to help us next year land Webber, Duncan, or whatever star player we can get.
Draft: Miles, Moiso, Johnson, Stephenson, Carrawell, N'Diaye and Porter.

    We'd end up with:

    Dream/Oneal/N'Diaye
    Croshere/KT/Moiso
    Miles/Carrawell/Porter
    Anderson/Mobely/Stephenson/Johnson
    Francis/Morris

... key players who slide because of needs, which picked up would take an extra couple years to develop, but in a few years, what an incredible group of talent that can flat out play with 2 or 3 stars.

Now to you guys who take all this real serious, you'll yell and scream at the outrageousness of this, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. I know this is total craziness, and would be like day trading in the stock market. I know we won't do anything like this. But I thought is was just some mental fun for a few minutes.

This is outrageous, craziness. Mo Peterson gets drafted by Utah at # 26 and then again at # 33 by the Rockets. Samake Walker gets drafted from the San Antonio Spurs at # 22. I guarantee you, it will never happen! Just kidding. It was a fun post.

    Sherlock,

I know this sounds crazy, but I can actually visualize that happening, and if it does...

you need to run down to the nearest stop and go and buy a lottery ticket...

I have to give you an "A" for creativity and all the work you put into it....

Besides a little problem of even 2% of this even having a 2% chance of happening; this is Imposible.

hhahaha! But props to you sherlock. This was very interesting to read and besides a few holes in the post I can see that you made your homework.

In need of more post like this one!!!!!
