How many of you have tried this, and further more, how well has it worked? My old roommate dated a co-worker and they are getting married in September, so I know it can work.

There is someone I think might be interested in me and she doesn't work in the same department, so I don't think it would cause any problems at work. I just want to try and think about the positives and negitives before I decide to start flirting back.

Of course I'm way ahead of the game on this, but I thought it might be an interesting topic to hear about people dating co-workers. And maybe Madmax will tell us more about his secretary. :)

I have about 4 times, and the fourth was my last. It makes for an awkward situation if/when you split up. Of course this was just MY experience. It could very well be different for you.

done it twice - it makes everything weird (if/when) you break up. But I am sure it can work - go for it B-Money!

i had a friend who dated someone else at work... odd thing was that we all sat next to each other in an open lab... so they were TOTALLY obvious when they were kissy kissy (always hung out together in his corner of the lab whispering) and when they were fighting (neither said a single word to each other and ignored the other's presence... made for an icy work environment in the lab for the rest of us)... they never told anyone they were dating, and when i finally confronted my friend after our division was shut down, he still denyed it... but silly him told one of my other friends at work (while out drinking one night), who blabbed it to me!

overall, for those of us around them two, it made it kind of awkward to work together in the lab with them... but it did give us tons of gossip and conversation topics to speak about! :D

I guess it depends on the size of the company. I saw nothing wrong dating someone at Frito-Lay in Plano. That place was huge.

But, when I worked at a small graphic company in Atlanta, the rule of thumb was:

Never go fishing off the company pier.

My buddy just married the boss's daughter.

    She's perfect for him.

Before I met her, I told him to STOP.

Lucky for him, he didnt listen to me.

Well, I guess I'll not do anything in this regard. She is only here for another month, then she goes back to school for a year before she is full time. I'm not going to close the door or anything, but a month isn't much time for something to happen. Oh well, maybe I'll think about dating again sometime next year.

I've had several years where I had little or no interest in dating. Every once in a while someone shows interest and I decide to give it a shot. I guess I just haven't been in a relationship that has made me desire to constantly be trying to get into a new relationship. (translation, most of my relationships have been practically worthless or deadly in a one case)

Don't get me wrong, relationships are usually great at first, and with the right woman, I'm sure things would work out fine. Things would probably go well with the woman at work, but I don't know how the long distance part would work for a year after only knowing each other for a couple of months.

i second that... i haven't been in a relationship in 2 years!

i just haven't met anyone that i wanted to date consistently in a long time... i enjoy the freedom of the single life (and the lack of headaches that can possibly accompany a relationship)

maybe i've just never had good experiences with long term relationships.

I have dated at the workplace many times. The last time was 18 months ago. I'm waiting for her to come home from her current place of employment.

I want to make it clear that our relationship did not cause either of us to leave the company. They shut down the Houston office and 120 people were laid off.

I third that. The last relationship that I was in was like right before I registered for this site. Thank God, that relationship didn't work out!:D I have gone out like twice with 2 other women, but it didn't work because one was too unaccessible (always working) and the other, I found out, had a boyfriend (she is now getting married to him...you should see how big her engagement ring is.. but she has a kid, so I doubt anything would have worked out between the 2 of us). I just don't have the personality to always be scoping out places and going places to try to land a girlfriend. As a result, work has been one of the few places that I could meet someone, see them on a regular basis, get to know them, and then muster up enough courage to ask them out. The last relationship I was in was with this divorced woman with 2 kids who sat in the cube right next to me. I have to admit that things were rough for about a month after I broke things off, but she was never hateful to me (maybe because she quickly found someone else).

However, I met another girl at the place that I used to work for before my present job and this girl was psycho. She is the one that I gave quite a bit of money (too embarrassed to say how much) and for the most part have never seen any of it returned to me. I learned a valuable lesson on that one...sometimes, love can cause you to do some crazy things.

B, if I was you, I would first find out about your company's policy on this since some places frown on it (sexual harassment worries). However, being the great B that you are, I know that you have already done that. So, yea, go for it (talking about the next one since you have decided not to pursue the girl you initially started talking about).

not to become the resident pig or anything, but if you just do the sex thing, or keep it to casual contact, I see no problem with inter company contact. when emotions get too involved it gets messy.

I have played this game many times. play fair, play honest, and play nakid.

if she asks, play rough ;)
