I met EVERYONE!! (continues on page 3) So i went to see the rockets play the nets the other night. the sales rep that i work with let me get to the arena an hour early and hang out around the court while some of the players warmed up: first guy i go up to (of course) is matt bullard Spoiler
he is one of the nicest guys you can ever meet. he thanked me for coming out to support the team and asked where i was sitting... i pointed out my seats and he said "those are good seats! dont pick your nose, you might be on TV!" i suggested that he use the nickname broowry, which someone on this site came up with, for our pg combo. he rubbed his chin and gave it some thought then said "yeah, i like it, broowry!" later on he took a couple of 3's with the players warming up. here's a quick vid of his shot. i didn't follow the ball through the net because i wanted to keep the camera on him, and i lucked out by catching a hysterical reaction to the made shot. matt bullard screams "yeah!" and pumps his fist The next guy i met was the man of teeth himself carl landry! Spoiler
i asked if we can take a pic with "me posing like dirk crying over a cut on his elbow and you holding your mouth and pointing toward the bench" he laughed and said he would love to but he might get in trouble... so i settled for the pic above. i wished him good luck for the game and in the 6th man of the year voting. he shook my hand and gave me a pretty sincere thank you. carl landry = really nice guy. next up was aaron brooks. i was really excited to meet him since he is one of my favorite players. vid of ab warming up (bullard talks to ast. coach in the back ground), pan to catch david anderson working with a rockets ast. on a lap top. when AB was done warming up i caught him his way off the court and asked for a pic. he said he didn't have time to take a pic, which is common response before the game. however, he did stop to sign autographs which made we wonder why he didnt have time for a pic. either way i made the best of it by taking a picture of him, and then of me with him in the back ground lol Spoiler
Spoiler
then i met former laker great brian cook Spoiler
i didnt really say anything to him except for thanking him for the pic since i felt a bit snubbed by aaron. after that my friend and i went to grab some food since all of the players were off the court. after eating we went to the family and friends section to talk to someone who will get us to meet the rest of the players after the game. you would be surprised that the family section isn't the best seat in the house. anyway, i shot another video, this time capturing rare footage... never seen before... chuck hayes shooting 3's... (he's the player across the court, closest to the bench) i know its not that clear, but his form is unmistakable! check out his reaction to the miss! what did he expect? lol ok i have to take a break from this, but i will get the rest of the pics up later. included in those are the rest of the players... and conversations with bill worrell, rick adelman, and the wizard!
thanks for the post, i was at this game to, section 107 row 17. i was surprise by the number of rocket fans at the game. there were a lot of Unhappy nets fans next to me every time i cheered. LOL. But it was a good game. I had a heck of a time.
haha brian cook you made his christmas weekend for that cool stuff will wait for other pics you met walt williams there?
I've had the honor of meeting Landry before, and he is a really awesome guy. Really down-to-earth and great personality.
I only met landry once at a theater store playing nba 2k8, first think he did when he walked in was told the kid i was beating that he sucked and to give him the controller, lol i thought that was funny but if i was the kid i might have gotten frustrated at him.
You didn't meet everyone. One of the everyone was on a plane back to Texas. I had a seat in section 110 near the tunnel where AB was signing autographs (not as good as smoothies, but pretty cool). Here are are few random observations: 1. In addition to kids seeking autographs, there must be some professional memorabilia hounds seeking autographs. Some guy next to me was on a cell phone in walkie talkie mode asking his partner "Are you gonna be able to get McGrady's autograph?" repeatedly. 2. Multiple people in TMac #1 Jerseys. 50% off discount must be good. 3. Bill Worrell and Matt Bullard did not wear pants! Not the right ones, at least. Both Bill and Bull were rocking the "half suit." Shirt, tie, jacket coupled with blue jeans. 4. Nets dancers look like they came straight from the cast of Jersey Shore. 5. Speaking of which, lots of Guidos around the stadium. It's like learning disability, I don't know if there are more of them around or if the science for detecting them is just more advanced. I think it's the latter for me, after living in NYC for 3 years. We just don't have that many Guidos on the West Coast. 6. Lots of Asians, too. Yi fans or people rooting for Rockets due to Yao despite his absence? Hmmm.. 7. Yi's dunk + tech pretty much sums up the essence of Yi. Impressive physical talent but will do something stupid often enough to hurt you in a close game. I can't decide whether he's Stro Swift with more skills or Andrea Bargnani with learning disability. 8. Watching the game live, you can really see how hard it is to attack the paint. Lots of traffic in there with huge and atheletic guys looking to rip the ball from you or contest yoru shot.
i met everyone that contributes to winning oh and if your in the nyc area hit me up and we'll go to some games. i can support your account of the game as well. bill and matt wearing the half suit was pretty funny. as were the guido's that filled the stadium... when the game got close the arena starts to cheer "DEFENSE!!" my friend and i chimed in with this: Crowd: DEFENSE Me: JOHN WALL Crowd: DEFENSE! Me: JOHN WALL!!! ok gotta run, ill post more pics later tonight.
Okay that is really funny. But let's not put John on that horrible team yet.. perhaps the Nets won't win the lottery.
