anything is possible now. It really depends on the TMAC trade.

    It's Lakers, Mavs, right?

This is too vague a poll question.

ANYTHING can happen before the end of the season. We could move Mac for an awesome piece to the puzzle. The Lakers/Mavs could have season ending injuries to Bryant or Nowitzki.

But, to answer the question, through our heart and hustle, I think anything is possible, aside from getting past the Lakers in the standings.

If the roster stays as is.. then no... now freakin way. The team is decent.. but not elite.. not even close.

Nope, but I think if things go right and we do well when our schedule gets easier, we may have a shot at the 4 seed.

I'm sorry to say this but it's gotten to the point of being near delusional at times. There is a limit to what this team can do. We nearly lost tonight to one of the weakest teams in the league.
We have overachieved but there is no chance of that happening at all.

I'm a believer in patterns, and to this point the records of the top 3 teams suggest that they are on pace to stay on top.

Our record suggests we'll stay somewhere 4-8, barring another unbelievable 22 win streak.

It is possible, but it is also possible that a dog could survive getting tossed out of a third story window.

To put it simply, I like our team, but come on, unless Dallas, Denver, Phoenix or/and LA start sucking something fierce that just ain't likely. I think we are a playoff team and depending on the match up we have a chance to make the second round, but that is it. Don't go thinking what we are putting on the court right now is a championship level basketball team.

I think it all comes down to..........(looks around) are you ready?..........Tracy McGrady. Shocking. To be serious we need a really good play, a star if you will. Either Mac comes back and is that for us again. Or we get someone like that in a trade. Magic 8ball says both are not ****ingg likely. But to answer your question to finish 2nd in this conference we probably can't do it with just really good role player. Though I love 'em to death.

number 2 seed? I don't think so. We will have a legit chance at the 4 or 5. Lakers, Mavs, Denver. Those are pretty much locked at the 1,2,3. Even with a great player through a tmac trade, it would be hard. They will have a significant lead on us by then.

On a side note. Is it just me or is the west beginning to be more and more like the east. 2-4 very top tier teams and then the rest are significantly behind in talent. I remember only a couple of years ago where basically anyone of the top 6-7 teams could win the west. While now it is basically between denver, mavs and lakers. The rest are no where near in terms of talent. You can probably throw in the suns/spurs. But I am not convinced about those two teams yet. the spurs are always good, but they have been really inconsistant right now.

I actually think this season is quite competitive. The usual top 8 teams are competing with each other along with the usual bottom feeders that are now growing up and becoming legit teams...like Sac, OKC, and Mem. Sac and OKC have given the #1 seed Lakers a couple tough games recently.

Add to that, the SW division has close to every team at or above .500!
The West is loaded now more than ever!

The East is horrendous as usual. Now that is truly a case of Celts, Magic, Cavs, and then trash.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. A lot depends on T-mac - if he can return and be productive and find his niche on his team before Feb then yes, we can get the 2nd seed.

But that seems like a distant possibility.

If we were an Eastern Conference team, maybe.

It's unlikely, but considering our record so far after playing one of the toughest early schedules in the league, that means we are due for some easy stretches of schedule with alot more home games down the road.

That is of course ignoring any potential trades that might improve the team later in the year.
