I was intrigued by the possibilities of the Francis/Mobley/Yao core. Its no coincidence after they were traded that the Rockets biggest weaknesses were a good point guard and versatile scoring guard, up until last year. But Francis did way way less with his teams than McGrady did with the Rockets. The Magic had Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard with Steve Francis. The Magic made the playoffs the year AFTER Francis left. You can similarly say Rockets advanced to 2nd round after McGrady left. But Francis cant claim any playoff berths at all, or a 22 game win streak. Now did the Magic come out better in the deal than if they'da kept McGrady? Perhaps. Would Dwight Howard have turned the Bobcats into a force? Perhaps.

Actually . . . since that trade until last year . . . none of those three spots were properly filled PG, SG, PF Cato was doing well at Power Forward. Esp since he did not have to score and he took Yao's rebounding duties. . . I think Cato that year was finally earning SOME of his big money Juwan was at best a Lateral move from Cato I still contend that had Weisbrod not Traded Cuttino for Useless Christie they would have made the playoffs that year up until then . . their record was better than the Rockets [or close to it] unless I am mistake Rocket River
No, definitely i would not say that. 22 streak was definitely a team winning. Even Yao was a part of it. Alston played great during that stretch If you took 13pts in 35seconds, i probably would. But sorry never been a big fan of him Sorry, disappointing u , lol

The article is 100% correct. John Weisbrod’s decision to trade Tracy had a huge impact on improving the Orlando franchise. After trading Tracy, Orlando immediately showed improvement by winning 15 more games than they did the previous season with Tracy. The biggest improvement however was not the extra wins, but getting rid of Tracy’s contract. When you look at Tracy’s contract, the value in relation to the amount of money spent was not good. Tracy was one of the highest paid guys in the league coming off of a 21win season, which was definitely not a good investment. When they got rid of Tracy’s contract, they immediately became more economically flexible. This allowed them to pick up free agents that they would not have been able to with Tracy. Imagine the flexibility that Daryl Morey would have if he had two 12 million dollar players compared to one 23 million player.
