Rockets wanted a standard cautionary procedure to check on a knee that he has a history of from college and kept him out of a good amount of games that season when he bruised it. As soon as Landry's dumb agent gave in, the Rockets negotiated a contract with him suitable of someone with his NBA experience. Landry got a better offer from the Bobcats and Rockets matched it. Everything in Landry suggests that he loves the Rockets and his teamates. Not sure where you are going with this?

I'm with Sweet Lou on this one. I think taht the situation has been awfully handled in many instances.

I understand the frustration on both sides, but I do think Tracy's minutes should steadily increase. Yes, he is somewhat of a primadonna, but we all know that. Rick usually gives players a chance to play when they are playing well, like Von Wafer and the early days of Carl. I think Tracy showed some progress against the Clippers and could have played a bit more to continue showing what he has left in the tank.

Still, it does seem like Tracy is on his way out. At his point, I wouldn't mind having Jermaine O'Neal and Quentin Richardson with us. We won't get a fair value in return.

    Let's reflect on Tracy's acts:

    1) Picking the Lakers to win it all before the Rockets were still in it

    2) Announcing his surgery

    3) Complaining about playing time

    4) Dogging on Yao ( "Replace Paul Pierce with me, and there is no way man, no way we lose")

Much more that we don't know about

There is no value when you only get $7 million in cap room.

There is very little S&T value for a guy that will not demand a high contract.

Let's just see what happens, but you do make an interesting point.

Logic strongly indicates that he'll be traded, or released for the cap space after this season. That is not what I see in what is actually happening lately.

It looks to me like both Tracy and the Rox would like to figure out how to use him as a Rocket. They want to do their best with him this season, and try to get it right for the next season. If they can't make it work, they won't re-sign him. If they can't make it look promising by the trade deadline, and they get a good trade proposal, they make the trade.

The Rockets have a great team concept. They need a star or two that won't mess up what they have now. It helps them for Yao to rebound, block shots, score, and defend in the paint; it doesn't help them for the team to be Yao and the Ming-ettes. This isn't a problem with Yao, due to his ego and the position he plays.

With Tracy, OTOH, it too easily turns into the T-Mac show when he's on the court. This isn't all his fault; the other players tend to stand around when he has the ball. What they really need to do is to find a way to integrate his immense talents with the Rockets' team concept.

I think they have made it clear to him, and I think he wants it to work. However, this is something very difficult for them to control; that's why they limit his minutes. Tracy's 8 minutes aren't the focal point of any given game; they are a laboratory. The Rox want to get those 8 minutes right before they expand them. I.e., they want Tracy and the rest of the team to mesh for 8 minutes.

When he made the comments after the Orlando game, he was actually fairly diplomatic. The problem is, the Rox see him as not quite getting what he has to do to make all this work. If they were sitting him just to be assholes to him, he would be raising hell in the press. I think he understands that they aren't meaning to jerk him around. He's just frustrated.

They both want this to work, but they also both know that it's not going to be easy, and it may very well fail.

Trade TMAC for Kevin Martin since K Mart could fit into team play better then a TMAC could.

If this is the case, then basically they will talk about what they were looking for and what they didn't see from him and ask him if he wants to try again?

    EUREKA....exactly right.

The difference is, that they have TOLD him what they want....and he didn't do it.

And they may not give him another chance.

At some point, you just have to cut your losses and forge ahead with the players that understand or rather accept their role.

This is why I don't think it will ever work...because Tracy needs to be Tmac.....

And that doesn't help this team, it only helps himself.

It is just oil and water....

Thanks for the rep. Sweet Lou does not want to give me rep because we tend to disagree on most issues that we discuss in the "Debate and Discussion" forum. He is apparently carrying a grudge.

Except it doesn't seem the Rockets are quite giving up yet. Maybe the are ready to - but that's not the exact language from Morey.

Benching a player with all star potential because he ask for more playing time.

Seems like a stupid move to me unless your trading him very soon.

I think they want it to work....and it would be great if it does.

But I can not think of a single circumstance where an aging star remakes themselves into a hustling role player.

The Rockets staff and management HAVE to try to make it work, that is what they are paid to do.

But we as fans have the ability to look at it without the pressures of running it as a business, and can speak the truth.

    It will never work.

Actually, he can't rep you. He's not a "contributing member."

    Oh, and you're welcome.
