I didn't realize O'neal's contract had 1 year 23 million left on it. I think we should consider this trade because without TMAC we are still a playoff team but with a very good Center we can make some noise in the playoffs and I think Jermaine would be a perfect fit. What do yo guys think?

I'd trade T Mac for a plastic bag full of air.

Would I trade McGrady for O'Neal NOW because you JUST realized O'Neal had an expiring contract? Why, that changes the landscape quite a bit.....

No way. We're going to get a guy that contributes BIGTIME, for a longtime when all is said and done.

Much more than an over the hill exJailblazer who is expiring too.

If it gets to February, then yes....no need to rush now, there might be a better deal out there coming up.

Who is honestly going to trade us anything worthwhile for TVag?

Unless we luck out and pillage a club that just wants to save money and tank, we're going to have to sell TVag at a loss.

If there isn't a better deal in February there will be in July. O'N is not a good deal; And, just maybe, the man's talent will command a new, albeit low price, Houston contract (as if).

    No, no, and hmmmm...NO!

Unless Jedi Morey thinks there's nothing better to be gained from TMac's contract thru the summer and something can be gained from O'Neal's next year.

I doubt Pat Riley wants to encourage Dwyane Wade to leave Miami by subjecting him to this trade.

HELL NO! Excuse the language but JO is not what he used to be. Simply put I think we can do much better if we are to trade T-Mac. Let the man keep playing and improving his game. Then, towards the trade deadline he will look much better for team out of playoff contention and in need of salary relief.

Why do we get better than JO?

Whats the market for an aging injury prone player coming off the mother of all surgeries for a basketball player, who's motivation and heart is questionable, who whinges when he doesn't have a great team around him, and then whinges when he has a great team around him and who has never made it past the first round of the playoffs!

Because a team that is trying to rebuild can jettision some long term deals and start over....

That leaves us possibly taking on board garbage in return for getting rid of Mr December.

I think if people want well known player in return for TMac, our best bet is that we steal someone off a team that is having a fire sale to save money over the next few years just because a few teams are in a dire financial position.

Ive said before, I think if we trade Mr 35 seconds, it will be for a few guys that leave most fans screaming "What the hell are we doing", but because Morey is a genius these players will be just what we need to take another step forward.

I think there is something better out there than O'Neal. Just need to be patient and this team will benefit long term...

All it will take is for one superstar to say he is tired of losing and would like out. It happens pretty much on a yearly basis...

    Here's the thing...

O'Neal (at least right now) is better than DeGradey as a player. But I don't think it matters. I don't think the Rockets would be trying to bring back O'Neal any more than they would Tradey. I don't think the Rockets make such a trade just for the playoff run either.

So either one of them is just an expiring contract.

The problem is O'Neal would be a newly traded player and would have some trade restrictions on him for a subsequent trade, so no point in Rockets making the deal.

Meanwhile, the Heat is actually playing O'Neal. They need him more than some guy who hasn't shown much.

The only way I'd take that deal, well, depends on what else Morey is offered, and there's no way of knowing that, so....

I mean, what if the idea (I doubt this) would to be allow Tmac's contract to run out, renounce him, and use the measly $5 or $6 million cap space in the summer to facilitate a trade with BYC Rajon Rondo (this would mean Boston signed him for this year's run, to decide later whether to keep or trade him; again, I doubt it).

Morey has indicated it would be easier to trade for an All Star or that level of player rather than take the chance of signing one of the available 2010'ers in the summer. Trading McGrady for O'Neal straight up would seem anti-climactic---I think McGrady has more game in him than does O'Neal---but again, maybe we're just looking at having that $6 million or so available and don't want to jack with it. But I'd be a little surprised.

if by the deadline there is nothing else out there and the rockets are still in the playoff hunt, then yes i would consider this deal. JO gives the rockets size and shot blocking.

i would insist that the heat use their TE to absorb brian cook. then at least it makes sense financially.

since tmac's contract wont get the rockets under the cap, they HAVE to get something for him before it expires. even if its just a future pick, or a couple of role players its better than losing tmac for nothing.
