hi, yes I do. and most of you love Texas. I find that most Californians are pretty proud of their state as well.

why is everyone else embarrassed or just not proud of their states. I mean its pretty easy for me to just say that everywhere besides NY sucks, but do people in the carolinas really agree with me??

why are we so proud of our states?? are you more proud to be texan than American??

I might be more proud to be American because I am a New Yorker.
I mean we are the Empire state, and we have the statue of liberty as well as Ellis Island and so much more.

do you know when I feel the most pride??
when I am someplace like Virginia, or Maine, and when after being asked, I reveal I am a New Yorker, people react. they make room for you they are honestly impressed, intimidated or jealous(I dont know what?) when in places like that women flock to NYers because they think that we must be more exciting than whatever is going on in their town. its realy weird, but flattering. its a shame though that we are all pretty much the same.

    hehe
and that concludes my social commentary for the day :)

    PEACE

Except for the time my father was in the Air Force up until I was 8yrs old, I've always lived in Texas. I was born here and I hope to die here.

I go to Cali and yes, its so beautiful, the weather is awesome and you always feel fresh but I have no sense of being anywhere. I am lost and there is no center in L.A. Its just another place on the globe to me. I get an empty feeling in my stomach when I think of what it would be like if I lived there.
I go to New York and it has everything! You can cut the creative energy in the air with a knife, its simply amazing! Although as in Cali, I feel less that I am actually anywhere. Where does it start and stop?!
I don't care if one or the other is supposedly has more or better arts and culture or P.Diddy or whatever, that doesn't concern me in the least bit. I hate feeling lost in a sea of strangers and places that have history so thick its hard to tell where I fit in.

Texas seems to have thinner layers of being and I like that, lots of wide open places, many things we still haven't done, lots of trees still to be cut down.
I just feel at home here and couldn't imagine dying anywhere else, that would frighten me.
OH, and I simply love the humidity and heat of Texas, I LOVE it! Wierd, huh?:)

    Amen!!

When I'm in Texas, I talk about New York.

When I'm in New York, I talk about Texas.

State pride is strong, especially with these two states.

I live in the best of both worlds.

    What???

hmmm. Let me crack my knuckles, first.

    ok!

The rest of the World outside of Illinois does not know what Basketball is all about. Afterall, we copywrited "March Madness" back in the 1930's. We are Basketball.

You all think you are from the best state. Y'all suck!!

And you are at the wrong BBS to claim otherwise.

    NYC sucks.

    California is sooo over rated.

New Yorkers are cocky, and think they're all the ****. I know that doesn't acruatly represent all of NYC, but that is just the vibe i get. It's not saying I would NEVER evvvvvvvver wanna go, but I do wanna see NYC.

What is the appeal to California? We got the beach too. It might not be as pretty, but we got one. It's just over rated.

    see, I dunno.

I guess KAM made a bit of my point.

NYers will likely never say that there are better anythings anywhere than in NY.

OH, and its not about the city, its something people feel when at the Niagra falls too. Its something that is felt in the thousand Islands region.

yeah we are Arrogant, and we are even proud of that. its a NY thing. and you still want to see NYC.

are you proud of your Texas drivers lic. ??

are you more or less proud of your US passport??

I would sooner show a foreigner my NY lic, than my passport.

I would rather be recognised as a NewYorker (American) than a generic American while in a foreign land.

just more thoughts. Am I the only one.
I always assumed Texans were the most proud of state because it used to be a country. has that changed?

    I am a Texan.

I was born June 4th, 1983 in the heart of downtown Houston. (sorta.)

I was born in Jeff Davis hospital alongside Buffalo Bayou on Allen Parkway. Umm, i had a few more birthdays, and now I am 19 years old.

New Yorkers have something about them that automatically makes them bigger and better. I don't mind them, but when they start acting like they're suppose to act, that is when I don't like it.
blah blah blah, I am a new yorker, there. blah blah. what ever you say, it doesn't matter cause i'm new york city, and you aren't.

Also, man, i don't want to sound evil, or a cynic.

But when the World Trade Center towers went down, and all of a sudden, all these I heart NYC shirts kept popping up, that kinda pissed me off. Sure, it's cool to wear it now.

When I was younger, all I wanted to do was leave Texas and move to a "cooler" place. I wanted to go back to Chicago(lived there for 3 years), or Cali, Florida, and, of course, NYC! But something happened when I became "legal"(18 years old), I realized that I was a freakin' Texan and I felt bad for the rest of the country becuz they weren't. I didn't really start appreciating being a Texan when I was younger, kinda took it for granted since I'd lived here most of my life. But now, there's no where else I'd rather be! I've been to Cali, Florida, Illinois, and NY. They all have their moments and great things BUT it just was not home! I guess that's really all that matters though, finding "home" and the Lonestar State is it!

P.S. "The Empire State" IS a cool nickname, I'll grant you. But how can you compete with The Lonestar State ? The name just oooozes of pride, self-reliance, ruggedness, courage, individualism, confidence, need I go on?:D

That's no big deal. Same thing happens when I tell people I'm from Texas. I mean, Virginia and Maine? You could tell them you're from friggin' Omaha and they'd be impressed! :)

NY and Texas give the BIGGEST impression when someone
    says they are from there
    California comes in 3rd

You say you from NY . . . a impression is felt [most times
    not a good one ;) ]

    Same with Texas
Houston is my favorite city in the world. . . no where else
I would want to stay . . [but i could visit some others]

I love Texas - IT is so diverse El Paso to Galveston

NYers do have an attitude problem
I'm reluctant to goto NY because the NY Attitude
vs my Texas Attitude could end up in a fight

I think Texans and New Yorkers are different sides of the same coin. Both have "attitudes" and won't back down from anyone/anything. I have friends and family in NYC and though we differ sometimes, heaven help anyone when we team up and you want trouble! I'll take my two cousins from NYC and my cousin from the Rio Grande Valley and the four of us will kick the crap out of any Cali, Floridians, and the rest of the 46 states combined.....:D
