Tough road back for Yao Ming ... no one deserves another chance to come back more than Yao, a gentle, gracious, intelligent soul. His remarks about playing basketball with his (future) son and comments about Chinese basketball were moving and insightful. My prayers and wishes for a smooth recovery for him ...

This article makes me less sure of his future with the Rockets, 20 mins per game for 2 years? If he does that he'll be past his prime when he returns to full minutes. I love him and all but unless he takes a paycut is it reasonable to think he could be gone?

In a way, wouldn't that be a good thing for the Rockets? It would be A LOT easier to get him to sign to less-than max so we can save room for other FA

Great read. Yao is definitely one of the most amazing people on earth. I would be lucky if I could even be close to the type of person Yao is. Merry Christmas Yao, and may your tough times just be the beginning of something great for you.

"I was happy to win my first playoff series last season. I felt like we were building something and had a good future as a team. I still believe in that future. I tell myself it is just delayed. I look forward to coming back again." -- Yao

Believe! Achieve ! Yao for the champion

yao deserve the respect from us.I believe he would come back with a stronger body and mentality.anyway I don't think he would charge too much ,a cut in his salary is possible. If u ask my opinion,10 min/y for 5 years would be acceptable.

i love yao, and we should all admire him as a person and as an athlete. he's lucky to be with an organization that actually has some loyalty.

i have to say, this article made it sound like the beginning of the end. he's not sure how he can run with this team, plus the comparison to Z's limited minutes after the same surgery... it's just not looking good.

either he will have to take a serious pay cut in 2011, or the rockets might want to consider a S&T this summer for a guy like bosh.

You can't help but root for the guy.....hopefully he can come back and be close to what he was before he had the surgery.

I don't know if he'll take a a pay cut, considering he's the main reason the rockets are doing well financially. For a center I think he's been underpaid since he got here.

I pretty sure I heard or read in the last 2 weeks that they have him in a smaller and lighter boot.
